Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

I think it was probably an interesting idea, but it looked kind of thrown together.

I'm not sure what look you were after, but it could definitely use a little more attention to detail, like sound and focus.

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

The tag line was really clever, but the rest I was not wild about. There were blown out highlights in some shots, but not in others, and you broke a lot of rules of continuity editing which made everything unclear. The sound was muffled, too, and the camerawork was shakey and the random zooms and pans made it look a lot like home video.

The concept and tag line were really good, but it just didn't work for me otherwise. Without the description to the left I wouldn't have really understood exactly what was going on.

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

dreadful....camera work needs help, it was shaky- didnt feel like a commercial. i didnt get it at all. good luck with anything else though bro

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

Well, I would agree. Looks like home video footage with the sound to match.

Could be a clever tagline, but I doubt Pepsi would ever go for it. If it's meant as a joke, that's fine, but it wouldn't be a good image for the product.

Re: funny pepsi spec commercialright,

right,

this was at a family gathering, I was trying out the dvx, just got it that day, this was more of a joke, not really planned out, as you can hear my nephews and mom were playing and laughing in the background.

ill be posting some real stuff soon.

thanks for your comments. 8)

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

hey guys, don't piss off picasso.

Anyone with the manparts to post a clip like that must have greatness up his sleeve, maybe.

Parable:
Some hateful parents buy their poor son a truckload of manure as a gift. On Christmas morning, in a horrible ceremony, they blindfold him and lead him to the garage. The son is enthusiastic to go. They fling open the door, rip off his blindfold, and present him with a shovel wrapped in a ribbon. The kid takes one look at the heap, grabs the shovel, and begins, with the biggest grin you've ever seen, to dig furiously. The evil parents are puzzled. "What the eff's he doing?" Asks the stoner dad to his unfit-for-a-mother-wife.
"What the eff are you doing, son?" Asks the unfit-for-a-mother to her son.

What'd the kid say?

"With all this dung, there's GOT to be a PONY under there!"
And he got right back to digging.

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

Could you imagine if this was on TV for pepsi? If they had the balls to show something this "artistic" I might buy one of their rot gut drinks. Sure it's "bad", but at least its different. TV sucks.

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

>:( this is good a different type of idea, it's being punked because of the sound, or the washed out colors, or the low quality? i always thought art was subjective? looking out for this guys next project, maybe it will have more quality. :-/

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

i didnt see it as art. i saw it as someone picking up a camera and randomly making ****- he even said it was just to test his camera out- thank goodness he clarified that. so when you say art jonny, you must not have read all of these posts.

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

oy, luxgap -- no need to be so harsh man... why don't you try being constructive next time -- so that the guy can improve --

hey arthur, i think the basic idea is good, even though pepsi might not go for it -- i know a couple of directors who got hired with unconventional spec material --

i'd say re-shoot it, cast real actors this time, not family friends, make sure you nail the major beats -- the guy stuffing himself silly, the other guy going green with envy, then finally the, i need a diet something, anything... try wide angle distortion, then normal to accentuate the difference...

hope this helps -- and luxgap, let's see your work, if it's so damn good... :-/

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

Dromatador, thanks, hey i never thought i'd get such harsh criticism, i've seen some bad footage on this forum and in return encouragement for the people who were the initiators of this footage, istead of all this... but hey, that's part of the nature of this sort of forum, show your stuff and get the truth.

i think if i was to have done this for real, i would have hired actors, got a lighting kit on set, and i would have compressed the footage at a higher rate, right now it's playing back at 12 fps, i also would have also shut down any noise in the background like refridgerators and fans and MY FREAKIN' NEPHEWS and NIECES and such. ha ha.

thanks for your kind comments.

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

I'd like to commend Arthur for being a mature adult about this thread. There have been some very harsh comments, yet he keeps returning to thank people for their comments and hasn't fired off any slams. Good for you.

That being said, practice some more, you'll get the hang of it. :)

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

this guy might as well go hang himself with all of the self righteous bullshit going on on this forum, hey this seems like the commercial you love to hate!!!

by the way art is subjective, i'm sure the piece of art called the scream, looked like a crazy kid with a crayola went bonkers on an art board, to some.

Re: funny pepsi spec commercial

yea, I'm back with a brand new spec commercial, this time I'm using Rc Cola as my brand, check it out (RC Cola Spec "Kung Fu Marriage Therapy")
