Fun topic... film food

Hey,

I've been making a list the past few days for nonperishable foods I can take to a 3 day shoot, located in the middle of nowhere, and I was thinking "Hey, that would make an interesting post on DVXuser.com". So, what kind of food-stuffs have you guys brought to a film shoot. I am compiling a list of safe foods that won't spoil easily and don't need much preparation.

I can't wait to hear some of the replies..... could be fun.

LOTS of water, dried apricots are good. Pretzels, we had some of these olive oil fried chips that were really good. Also M&M's and gummy bears for quick energy. Beef Jerky is ok too. Apples will stay pretty OK. Maybe those little individual cups of apple sauce. As far as real meals go though, I would say you'll most likely have to take something and cook it. Something easy like a Pasta and chicken dish, gives you plenty of carbs for energy and also some good protein. Except for the M&M's, I would say avoid any heavy chocolate stuff. I always like to have small stuff that you can throw in a paper cup and take around with you, like trail mix type stuff. Granola bars are a must. I think crystal light also makes some individual lemonaide packets that you can mix with a bottle of water if some people don't like drinking lots of plain stuff but you don't want to mix juice for everyone. If you're in the middle of nowhere, try and think of things that produce as little waste as possible, because you'll have to carry it back out with you. Instant oat meal would be a good choice too. It's also good to have hot drinks around too. Tea, coffee, cocoa, and some spiced cider mix is always good. Bring some ziploc bags so people can toss the dry trail mix stuff in them and carry it around with them.

Peanut Butter. If you can take bread, that's great... but peanut butter is the staple of any middle of nowhere shoot.

If you have a grip and happened to get stranded, you can always eat the grip. Darwinism, baby, Darwinism.

the brand Mountain House makes a suuuper tasty dehydrated spaghetti with meat sauce - only needs hot water...also instant blackbeans (in bulk section)with minute rice - only needs hot water - bring some taco sauce packets, cheese, tortillas and booyah

remember to bring a trash bag and pack everything out...make sure everyone else does too, and pick up any extra trash lying around you may see
