My first real video project which so happens to be a complete film that i shot with my dvx100 is in its entirety on Vimeo.. I bought the camera about 9 months ago and just jumped right into this project with 300 bucks, the help of some very talented friends who love to act and some amazing independent artists who contributed to the soundtrack form all over the place.I was originally going to do the film festival circuit( and i might still) but i have bought so much equipment since i shot this and am much better with the dvx now and have many big projects coming up that i thought i would just put this up to show you can make a film with a rocking soundtrack with hardly anything at all. it is a very crazy ass sci fi movie that served as a huge learning experience for me big time. I hate this movie at times, but then i just think i learned so much form making this and so many of the scene were so rushed for so many different reason. either way it turned out pretty damn good as long as you don't try and make sense of the story ( or so that is what I'm told) anyway I'll shut up. the link below has more info and the movie for your viewing pleasure.

Have you thought about cutting a trailer? It might help you promote the movie and get people's attention before you force them to watch the entire feature first...

my 2 cents

If you clicked the link you will find 3 different trailers/teaser for the film on the same page as the full feature that i have already been posting for months. Just got sick of trying to sell the film so i just put the whole thing up.

Watching it now. In the motorcycle scene where the guy comes after him, I think we (the viewer) should've saw him jump on the bike, quick cut to him starting it, quick cut to his foot on the pedal, then quick cut to him taking off. It would've helped timing wise. It seems like there was enough time for him to be caught. The scene of the main character getting ready and eating breakfast had some comedic depth. Not knock down drag out funny, but it does bring a smile to the face. I liked your stark black and white scenes too.

Wow, I didn't know you could get feature length videos on vimeo. I'm going to have to check it out. What are some things you learned the hard way while making it? What would you have done differently?

Thanks for giving it a watch guys! some parts including the motorcycle scene were all very rushed and the opening stuff with the main character was actully the first stuff i ever shot on any video camera LOL. I learned so much about film making, more than any film school i think. i had hands on with so much and my newer projects are going to be much bigger and better, purchased a RODE NTG3 mic, steadycam, crane system and so on.

I watched the entire movie and...I'm not really sure what I watched. Maybe I missed something, but the characters and their motivations weren't clear at all. It's especially confusing when new characters pop up suddenly and then do something dramatic, but we don't know who they are or why they do what they do, and most of the time it's never explained. Who or what was that cyborg thing? I guess he was the son of the bearded man who...runs a corporation...with a secret project...or something? Who was the Frankenstein-esque scientist in the beginning? Why was he experimenting on "Andy" (I think that was his name). How did Andy wind up in that situation anyway? And who is Andy? I think I gathered he's the son of the bearded guy who's being questioned? Was he also the guy in the beginning who escaped on the motorcycle from the weirdo? And for that matter, who was that guy and why did he chase him? And I think he was one of the guys who attacked the pregnant woman later on, which I guess is why Andy felt the need to attack the attackers? Or was it because they were assaulting an innocent pregnant woman and he played vigilante hero? But if that's the case, it's still unclear why? Just because? Batman fights crime because a terrible crime was committed toward him and his family, so he takes justice into his own hands.

What's Andy's story? Is he supposed to be some kind of super hero? The whole sequence seemed largely unnecessary. Who or what is the person/thing that attacks him the with the sledgehammer? Who were the two guys on the roof at the end? Or the guys watching Andy on the monitor. One of them freaks out, and the other one shoots him. Who were these people? Were they the same two guys who wind up on the roof? Why did he shoot him? Who were the guys in ties? I knew there was apparently a detective, but I only knew that because I read the description on the video, so I'm guessing the guys in ties are detectives? Who hired them? And why? And why did the rookie shoot the other guy? Maybe I'm not getting the bigger picture, but I thought it was kind of a mess. And it honestly felt like there was a lot of padding as well. I hope I don't come across as too harsh. There were some interesting ideas, and some really good visuals in the film. It's good considering it was the first thing you've ever done, but ultimately it's the sloppy storytelling that hurts it.

I'm only going to nitpick this point because it bothered me from an editing standpoint, when Andy's getting away on the motorcycle, you should have had him get on cut to him putting the key in, cut to his foot revving it up, cut to his hands, then cut to him pulling away as the guy came after him. I say this because otherwise it looks like the guy had way too much time to catch him before pulls off. I did like that stark black and white you did at the beginning.

HAHA Billy I had no idea the story could be that confusing, but yes it is a ****ING MESS. It wasn't even suppose to be a full length film, just an audio visual project that turned full length with a "story" and got carried away. I honestly do not wanna explain the story, but i feel that if you watch it again you will understand it( then again i do not expect you to). I appreciate you for watching it and it was my first project shot for under 300 bucks and things are only looking up from here, new projects that MAKE sense and ALOT of new equipment ;)

I just watched the whole film. It reminded me of the type of film that Film Threat magazine was reviewing in the 80's. I didn't have a big issue with confusion, as long as the filmaker knows whats going on, fine with me. To me it's a semi-experimental narrative which I give a little more slack on plot and story. Many different styles of music which again I had no problem with (well maybe the miami vice style stuff). Some of the films scenes/style reminded me of : Early "Butthole Surfers" videos , "Performance", "Twelve Monkeys", "KillerDriller"(I think thats the title), French neo-noir reinterpreted by filmakers unfamiliar with American film noir, Texas chainsaw massacre. An interesting first effort especially with the budget.

Thanks for watching guys and keep the feedback coming in. I have just started shooting my Westfest entry and this Wednesday I have a shoot in a junkyard with almost 20 extras.....I got ahold of my crane a few weeks ago and have some cool shots planned ;)
