Full HD as computer monitor?

Hi guys,

I was thinking about this some other day while visiting an electronics' store. What would be the down size of using a full hd tv as a computer monitor? I mean, I have two 22' computer monitors right now and I was like "Man, it must be simply amazing editing video on one of these full hd 42' tv sets". What are the trade offs here?

That would be sick. You'd just have to make sure you set the desktop res correctly, and I dont think windows supports 16:9 natively, only 16:10 or whatever it is. Maybe Mac is diferent.... well of course mac is diferent. Is Mac.

There are many computer monitors which will give you higher resolution than 1920x1080, and they'll usually cost much less than an HDTV.

I've used a 46 inch full hd plasma monitor and the thing was TOO big, It gave me headaches because (guessing) my eyes had to move around to much to look over the whole screen and I think it was because it was too close to me. I just got a full hd 24 inch screen and it is awesome. If you really want something big like 40+ inches I would use it has a preview monitor for watching HD content in a editing environment.

Windows supports any resolution that your video card supports, and modern video cards have special settings for HDTV's

Thanks guys. I've done a lot of research and unless you're working across the room with a wireless keyboard a 40 or 46 inch hdtv is just not good for you. I might go with hdtv, but not for my computer.
