There are no leaked images of the A7 and A7r cameras yet but a trusted Asian source sent me a sketch that shows exactly how the real cameras will look! I showed the image to other sources and all said that this is 100% the real camera design! I repeat it… I am 100% sure THIS is the real A7/A7r camera!!! The camera is weathersealed and has the size of an Olympus OMD. And it has a solid Pentax LX feeling.
These cameras will be announced on October 16 at 5-6am London time.

Wow, that's some aggressive pricing!

But then, they're about to create a beautiful mess out of the NEX lens situation (I doubt my two NEX lenses, sigma 19mm and 30mm, will work on a FF sensor) so they better try to lure people in however they can.

The APS-C NEX mount lenses work in APS-C mode on my full frame NEX-VG900.

This is the first image from the new Sony A7 mirrorless E-mount Full Frame camera! It’s a low-resolution image but 100% real. All sources that saw the camera say that the A7-A7r cameras are built like a Tank. They also were surprised by the design but almost all of them will end buying it because they quite liked the camera after a couple of minutes of testing and holding

Most of my sources do believe that these are game changing cameras. And yes, the lens offering is very limited (and expensive) but Sony plans to introduce many more lenses during the next 12 months.
The A7 24MP and A7r 36MP cameras will be announced this week on October 16. Be sure to be online at 5-6 am London time on SonyAlphaRumors.com. I will follow the event live and link you continually to first tests, reviews, image samples, videos and preorder links (so that you can be the first to get the cameras).
One more thing: I still have no video specs but I have been told that the cameras are very good in video and have some improved features.

I don't think it's any different to the situation with EF and EF-S lenses though, is it?

Same basic mount, but one set of optics to cover ff, one set the smaller format, and a one way compatability.

I'm not sure about the 24mpx A7, but on the 36mpx A7r you'll still get 15mpx photos out of your existing NEX lenses in crop mode - which isn't half bad!

Yes, the 36Mpix sensor, when cropped, is not bad at all. But it's not what users will want.
And yes, EF and EF-S are a similar case. Except, with NEX, Sony started with the small sensor. When EF-S was released, all EF lenses worked on it, they just became more telephoto. Using just the central portion of the sensor and delivering an image with less than half the pixels is a much nastier compromise.
When the new one is released, they will have to release a new name for the FF-NEX range of lenses, and say which, if any, previously existing lenses will cover FF on this new baby. Royal mess, if you ask me.
Still more than welcome, it's just a pity that it seems they didn't plan for this in advance.

New FE (Full Frame E mount ) lenses are coming out with the new A7 and A7r.
We can add one more lens in the FE range, the 70-200mm f/4.0 OSS FE Zeiss. I also have been told that all lenses are weathersealed (just like the A7 and A7r cameras). So here is the list of lenses Sony will announce next week on October 16 at 5-6am London time (be sure to be on SonyAlphaRumors at that time to follow the event live):Zeiss FE 24-70mm f/4.0 OSS (likely on market in early 2014)
Sony G 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 (don’t know if it’s OSS)
Zeiss FE 35mm f/2.8 (with that lens on the A7/A7R) the camera-lens size is the same of the RX1/R)
Zeiss FE 55mm f/1.8
Zeiss FE 70-200mm f/4.0 OSS (likely on market in early 2014)
I have been told there is a lens roadmap that Sony could show too

I think that's being very harsh. They could just have announced a completely new standard, total incompatibility. As it is, they've had a system of lenses and cameras for APS-C and I wouldn't expect the lenses to cover full-frame on any new camera. (If they did, they'd be unnecessarily expensive for their original purpose.)

Bring out a full frame system and it's inevitably going to mean new lenses optimised for full frame. At least by making the mounts compatible it means that if you buy lenses for FE, at least they can be used on the smaller sensored cameras, obviously with a magnification factor.

And finally after long search SAR readers found these pics on Digicameinfo! These are 100% real (confirmed via my trusted sources). The image on top shows the 24 megapixel A7 with the 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens. The image below shows the 36 megapixel A7r with the 35mm f/2.8 Zeiss lens. The 28-70mm lens is quite unexpected big (and well made). A si told you before the A7 uses not the same A99 sensor and the A7r not the same D800E sensor (without AA filter). This is a new version made for these cameras and to avoid issues on corners because of the very short flange distance. I hope the A/r can beat the D800E performance..not bad for a camera that costs $800 less than the D800E ($3000 here at Amazon).Important: Announcement live blogging on SonyAlphaRumors Wednesday at 5-6am London time! Oh, wow, they really are tiny! And the handgrip looks very comparable to the NEX cameras (which, IMO, have hands-down the most comfortable handgrips of any of the compact mirrorless cams at the moment). This might finally be the mirrorless camera to draw me away from DSLRs (which I've been wanting to do for years now). I hope the focus on the A7r holds up its end of the bargain.

wow they do look great indeed

also, about that very interesting prime on the a7r: it's not just the lens from the RX1 but now with an interchangeable mount, the RX1 has a Carl Zeiss Sonnar 35mm f/2.0, so it is one stop faster, and it shows in the size of the front element, so it is a different design (probably very similar but with some tradeoffs to make it cheaper to manufacture)

It looks great. I would love to get one of these for stills, it's the first camera that seems to target the Leicas.

For video, you get what seems to be the same codec as that of my NEX-5N (read: weak), but you also have clean HDMI out. I'm guessing it's 8-bit 422, so, inconvenient (I prefer to record in-camera) but not bad at all.
What this camera needs is a picture style that can use the whole DR from the sensor. With my new light meter, I've measured DR of my NEX-5N in video mode at 3-above and 7.5-below (6-below if you want it nearly without noise). For stills, I've measured 4-above and 9-below. That's 2.5 stops that are being left on the table because I can't use a picture style that won't crush both highlights and shadows. Put a log profile on this, and that 8-bit 422 external recorder will give the C100 a very tough run for its money.

On the right side of the body is the dedicated movie recording button, which seems to move further away from the back of the camera with each new camera.

To the lower-right you can see the NFC symbol, which is where you'll 'tap' your compatible smartphone.

back-angled-ports.jpg
On the left side of the camera, under a pair of plastic doors, are four I/O ports. They include microphone, headphone, 'multi' (for USB and internal battery charging), and micro-HDMI.
