Full frame focus breathing?

Hi friends,


do you guys notice any focus breathing with your zeiss cp glass and full frame cameras? I started noticing it with an fs700 and metabones speed booster ultra that almost crops to full frame. The the background grows or shrinks while focusing it very distracting to me now. Does the average TV movie watcher notice that too?

The CP2's are essentially rehoused ZE/ZF lenses which were designed for still photography. In that regard there would be no major reason for zeiss to design a lens that didn't breath. These perform decently but they definitely aren't optically spectacular (Ex. the 50mm)

Is it necessarily worse than when you rack focus without the adapter?

im gonna test it without the adapter. I love the adapter positives that i never take it off.

It's not related to sensor size much really, just how the lens is designed optically, some breathe more than others. Zeiss ze/zf do show a little breathing. Is it really bothering to look at in your examples?
