This a film I shot (Director of Photography) with my great friend Patrick Collier who directed the short. It was one of the best experiences I've had collaborating on a film and I'm very proud to be apart of it.

I shot this on my:
Panasonic DVX-100b
35mm Adapter (self-designed)
Minolta MD 35mm Lenses:
17mm f/3.5, 20mm f/2.8, 35mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/2, 135mm f/2, 200mm f/2.8, 300mm f/4

Enjoy!

Ok, not quite ready for the big screen, lots of technical issues, but a reasonable story, decent acting, a few inspired moments..

All in all, what I take away from this is a group of friends who I'm thinking had a really good time making a credible short for the fun of it. Mission accomplished.

Odd thoughts I'd add ftiw - shallow DOF is a tool, not a religion, and generally at least something HAS to be in focus. Adapters can be a bear. Audio levels need attention. Liked the shot blocking. The pitcher getting beaned took a little too much effort to fit together.

There's always a zillion ways to make something better. The artist has to decide at what point the effort/reward ratio becomes not worth it. Craftsmen find joy in creation, perfectionists die miserable.

Congratulations on having the good sense to actually go out and DO something.

Best wishes.

some sound advices:

- the blowing is bit to soft, compared to the steps and the movement of the dust
- opening of the box sounds to far (roomy)
- you've put a grassmower sound at the beginning when the grass is seen ?
I know it's a grassmower because....I do sound... But I think a lot of people will
not have noticed there was a grassmower there ?
- watch out if you record sound only left...to put it also right after
- And only recorded right....to put left also
- I don't know if the dialogues are recorded seperatly from ambiance sounds like playing guys etc ? Well in this case...it was kind of possible. But remember to always record dialogues seperatly from ambiance sounds like guys shouting (let them pretend without making sound)

Some postive things also :-p
- the sound is recorded well
- I like the beat of the fist hitting the mith (or mit ?)

- the jump cuts..a mistake or wanted ?
- I miss some shouting parents, coach...other players

I'm not a DOP..but...around 06:03...don't follow the guy that lost..he's not important...
And if he was important (I have not seen the end yet)...He was given not enough attention.

The other boy preparing... just cut when he stands.. We know that he'll walk to that place.
(I know that's editing :-p, I'll keep it on sound now :-p)

About the story: the idea is good, but 4864864684684864864106464 others before made films about "love and girls and stuff between"... But that's more personal I think

Liked it, some of the shots were a bit soft, but overall a really nice eye.

I guess im just used to all these HD cameras and DSLRs so it looked a little low on the res, but still goes to show you can shoot something nice looking with an older camera. One thing to watch, is a few of the shots in direct sunlight were slightly overexposed. Not a huge issue, i have troubles with it myself, but just noting it.

I really liked it, especially the opening sequence, and how you tied the story to it.

Your catcher actor, was really superb. Im not a sound guy, so to me all the sound was great.

keep it comming, you definetly have a talent.
