Fujinon HA Series Lenses with AF-100

Does anyone know of samples of the AF100 shooting with Fujinon HA series (2/3" HD) lenses?

Links appreciated.

The Fuji's are for B4 mount 3-chip 2/3" HD cameras and will not cover the 4/3 sensor of the AF100, which requires twice the image circle diameter 22mm vs 11mm. Not likely to see any footage from these on an AF100.

Abel Cine web site has a video demonstrating the HA wide angle on an AF100 using their increased coverage adapter. Looks good.

The footage I've seen actually looks better than much of what I've seen with other lenses.. I've been thinking about this conversion, because I have the Fujinon - but the cost of 7 grand plus the 2 stop light loss has been keeping me away..

I keep waiting for a decent zoom for this camera, as Barry describes in his NAB post - but it doesn't look like there will be anything soon - So, 7 grand - for f3.8...?

AbelCine created a hybrid rig a while back (2-3 months ago) using a doubler, and AFAIK is selling turnkey solutions. It's not a cheap setup however, which is probably why footage is scarce at this time.

....?

If you have the Fujinon, then all you need is the Ciecio B4-m4/3 adapter ($260) and a 12v power source. Remote controls (iris/zoom) are also available for $150 or so.

...assuming you already have the 2x option on the lens.

The quality won't be as good as with the AbelCine extender though because of the way these lenses are designed with the different flange distances of blue, red and green light.
that being said, I am not sure most people will be able to tell a huge difference. for about 300 I would at least try it out.

As JPM noted, that's low quality - plus it means having a lens with a 2X extender, which I don't. Also, for me, the zoom motor isn't an issue because I've already removed mine (I detest motorized zooms) and for start/stop I use the grip from my super16 camera...

Yes, the cost is $5,500 for the adapter, but I would also need the Hot Rod PL adapter, so it's 7 grand+.

Mac, JPM,

I'm not following your comments about the 2x extender. My assumption is that the Fujinon built-in extender would have equivalent optical quality as the lens itself. Are you saying it is otherwise and that the Abel Cine is superior? I.e. the built-in 2x extender makes a good lens into a bad lens?

well, again, it has more to do with the way they are designed to handle the different wavelengths of light and the prism in the camera splitting the light. Also, like the post above this one, it needs to have the image circle doubled, which is not done completely by all 2x extenders (GH1 users have been doing this for awhile and having mixed results from different lenses)
