15min in 4K or 20 Min in FullHD in 200mbit (30min with battery grip), 120fps limit to 6 min
still no headphone on the body even thought it is beefier than XT-2 unless you got battery grip

Still limited in record time to satisfy the video camera tax laws. Or to try and prevent overheating. F-log internal is interesting.

2200 euros with the grip is mentioned.

again, no headphone port?

why would fuji not turn the body into a true top-of-the-line hybrid camera with support for a very basic video tool-audio!

and all of this video is still 8bit?

be well.

lol. There are cinema cameras that don't even shoot 10-bit 4K.

There are no stills cameras that shoot 10-bit 4K internally on the market besides the GH5, which is that freak of the bunch whom has made a name for itself over the years by building on its success. It's almost like that line of cameras keeps getting better and better and they have to have those kind of features because of the major disappointment that would follow if they didn't.

If the big two - Canon and Sony - don't have one out yet, I wouldn't expect Fuji to be next.

IMO, it will be a few years until that is a standard offering from everyone.

It's an improvement on the a6500 in several ways (dual cards, high bitrate), and also an improvement on the GH5 in at least one way (I believe this one should have better DR), so even if it's not perfect, it's not a lame duck at all!

I will pass, though. Unless DR is amazing (I think it will just match the Sonys).

I'm going to take a more serious look as an upgrade to my xt1, but if the video isn't good enough, not going to spend the money.

Biggest disappointment for me is that after all of these years, with all of their knowledge and innovation, killer color science, it's just another stills camera that shoots video. Fuji should have came out of with a C200, EVA 1 and FS-5 killer. They could do it, sell a s***load of XF lenses and grow their company and business well past the somewhat dying mirrorless camera business. Yes, companies are selling a lot of M43 and mirrorless cameras. But for how long when SmartPhones are becoming so good? They already killed the P&S market, it's just a matter of time before they bury the upper end prosumer still and video camera market. I've been shooting gimbal with my new iPhone 8 Plus and an 18mm moment lens. It's perfectly high quality with good light, not very good in low lighting but phone manufacturers will lick that problem within two more iterations.

If I was a Japanese camera company, I would be trying to new things to fight against the soon to be extinction of consumer video and still cameras. They all seem like they are sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting out "la, la, la" when the writing is clearly on the wall. Samsung, Apple and LG are going to bury them and soon. Then what?

Looks good - ibis and autofocus face detection with flog internal and 200mbps 4k DCI and fuji colors (mmmmm). I think this will be the best hybrid camera on the market. I don't mind lack of 10 bit as the colors are already fantastic to begin with. If they nail the autofocus like canon's dpaf it should sell like hotcakes. It would essentially be the camera everyone has been asking canon for plus with 5.5 stops of ibis (which should be good if it is like gh5, not the crap a6500 variety.)

I still have a T3i that I bought 5 or so years ago. Even though it can produce beautiful images I hardly ever use it because of it's time limit, I believe about 12 minutes or so. Fuji has a huge potential with the features on this camera with one huge exception, low time restriction in 4k, which is all I shoot now a days even when outputting 1080p. This will keep me away unless I feel I want one dedicated camera for gimbal use only for it's autofocus ability, but is that enough to justify a new system with new lenses. I think soon, possibly this NAB, canon will fill in the void for 4k dslr/mirrorless cameras in it's lineup that will be excellent for gimbal work and much more. I do wish Fuji can compete with the EVA-1 and C200 but honestly I am not sure they would ever do.

C200 and EVA-1 are not even in the same class as what Fuji is producing, triple the price (or more) of the fuji and with significant feature upgrades to go with that price. Things like XLR audio, viewfinder output, etc. But in the same way, Fuji is not up to a GH5 level or maybe even not up to a GH4 level. If I didn't already have Fuji mount lenses, it would be a non-starter for me because the features are just not up to the asking price at this time. But I have Fuji mount lenses and would like to stay in that system for stills and be able to get good video with the same body.

It will be interesting to see what features are available with the HDMI output, nothing was mentioned in the leaked info. Would be cool to get no/low delay in the output. Ability to send 1080 out but record 4K/UHD. Nothing mentioned about anamorphic, even just viewfinder squeeze would be welcome.

Neither Gh5 nor Gh4 have internal log (on one it can be purchased, granted), nor face detect autofocus, nor an apsc sensor, nor capable low-light abilities. Gh5 has 10 bit but this is offset by the fantastic fuji colors which in most instances don't require grading. GH5 has 4k 60p and is superior in this sense. But the Fuji is also cheaper. If you don't require 4k60p the fuji seems superior to me because you also get an extremely capable stills camera as well. They are both marketed as hybrid cameras and to me the fuji is superior in this respect. If the fuji gives me better images SOC then I don't see why the 10 bit GH5 image is superior, but would like to have your thoughts as to why you think it is superior as these things are more or less subjective. Taken as a whole, the fuji is a compelling package that I think many photo/video people will be drawn to. Moreso than the a6500 and, owing to costs and stills capabilities, even the GH5.

I think we can all agree that fuji cameras have great colour and hence our desire to see a professional film camera in their range. I am just really satisfied with their image for what it is and find it more pleasing than the GH5 but that's my opinion. THe other thing is with the ibis and autofocus face detect it will be great for docos and run and gun and gimbal work. The GH5 still has the Achilles heel with the autofocus that a lot of people need. Happy to hear your thoughts as to why I am wrong, which I often am ha ha.

The new Snapdragon 845 processor allows 4k 60fps 10-bit H.265 encoding (link), so I guess at least some high-end phones in the next year will be using that. Just like a couple of years ago it was easier to find 4k phones than 4k DSLRs, it may soon be easier to find 10-bit phones than 10-bit DSLRs. Then Sony, Fuji, etc, will definitely have to catch up.

Looking forward to my future RX100 shooting 4k 60fps 10-bit with the same DR of an FS7 or a C200. It won't be the VI, it probably won't be the VII, but eventually, it will happen.

The GH5 is much more "fleshed out" in the video areas, as a more mature product should be. I think the Fuji will disappoint in several areas and therefor people should be somewhat cautious of dumping something they have now to fund this new camera. I think a slow wait and see plan is a better choice here, let's see what Fuji is really giving us before we declare it the best thing since video came to town. SInce I also would like to upgrade my XT1, this camera might not be a bad choice for me, but there are somethings that just can't be done like long takes in an interview. And we still know nothing about heat issues, does it overheat and shut down, or will it record as quickly as a person can start the next clip after the timer expires.

I will not argue the color science, as an XT1 owner I am familiar with their products. But remember there is no XLR adapter for this camera (X-H1 or whatever it will really be called), so your audio is always going to be lesser and really require dual system. There is no SDI out option, no timecode in option (from a connector), and we know nothing about the HDMI output at this time.
