Fuji X-T3 released

I'm in the same boat in that I have a big 7inch atomos monitor and it defeats the purpose of having a small run and gun camera. My workflow now consist of shooting in camera and then offload on to the Atomos when I get home. I'll set the x-t3 to slideshow so that it'll play all the clips back to back and press record on the monitor to record to prores.

That's the same as transcoding internal files to ProRes, you don't get full quality HDMI 10bit 422 output. Because the camera playback compressed files through HDMI.

You...*breathes* Okay...if you transfer the internal recordings to ProRes from the camera the quality of your Prores files will be worse than if you just record to cards internally. Instead of one compression step, your introducing 3 of them (Camera->Memory Card->Hdmi->Atomos). Your getting a worse result and wasting more time. Even if your doing it to transcode to prores for faster editing it would be faster and higher quality to do it on your computer.

Can someone please help me? I've updated to the newest firmware and have a shoot at 3pm. I can't seem to find where I can select and prioritize a certain face within a crowd so as my face detection will not keep hunting for different faces. This was the sole reason for my excitement about this upgrade and for the life of me am not able to utilize it. Thanks so much in advance.

Seems like photography only. If this is true, they took a page out of Sony's book and made it seem like it was possible in video (both probably did unintentionally).

Sony did this with eye-AF for a few years where you saw video but it was just the "live" mode or a screen capture of the LCD.

Maybe try using the stick/lever while Face-Detection is ON and see if it changes anything.

I could of swore I seen it used in video mode . I hope this is not the case and it's only in photo mode, this could be a set back for me.

I have double checked my settings and while I can get face selection to work flawlessly in photo mode, video is another (unfortunate) story. I can only get the focus box to stay on another selected face if I use the touch function in area focus. No luck using the focus lever in the multi AF mode.

Face Select works flawlessly, as advertised, in video mode.

Out of the box, when multiple faces are detected, just touch the gray boxes to switch faces.

Assign a button to "Face Select" function, you can also use the button to switch faces.

Any mods out there: how many pages do we have to get to before giving Fuji a dedicated section? I just want a target to hit. :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

Not happening. We've been asking since page 60 or so. I started a FB page @fujifilmprovideoshooters also have a Twitter and IG under the same.

You are all welcome at the Fujix forums, there is a dedicated video section that is far too slow right now. Robert would certainly welcome you into the forum, you guys would bring a much needed amount of conversation for this aspect of the Fuji X cameras. And though they will never admit to it, the Fuji people do read that forum so some of your concerns and requests might actually get answered in firmware or new models. https://www.fujix-forum.com/forums/

Yup, I am on there.

Advice wanted. So far I have been pairing my X-T3 with a C100 but have been thinking of picking up an FS5 as my A-cam and using the X-T3 as my B. I love the C100 except the weak codec, LCD placemnt and lack of 4K. What concerns me about the FS5 is the weak 4K codec and the Sony colors.

Anyone here using the FS5 along side the X-T3? How do they match? Thanks.

The Fs5mkii looks good with the Venice color science. Improves the highlights a good deal. @yachacha has more experience with the Fs5, and from what i gather it is a heavy lifting little tool, but namely for it’s HFR and other features. The mkii demo video seems to imply they fixed everything i didn’t like about the first version.

I have a hard time hating the Canon C line, but also, a hard time actually liking them. Total love hate. So, i think i see what you are trying to do. I feel the fs5 mkii may just be a good ultra light weight A cam. The first version leaves some iq to be desired.
