Fuji X-T3 released

Not sure if anyone caught the DealZone today, but it seems that they pushed out all of their remaining 128GB 95MB/s SDXC cards. The cards now appear to be discontinued and officially replaced by the 170MB/s ones. (At least the 128GB size.)

How to record sound with X-T3? Adapter like beachtech? How to use a wireless system? Or separate sound is only way?

If you care about sound, forget recording your audio on any mirrorless camera, they all sound relatively terrible. Buy a Tascam DR60 if you’re cheap or a Sound Devices Mix Pre 3 or a Zoom F4. Any of these devices sound better than any camera.

Not sure why he didn't set the audio input level to 1 click above off and run preamps hotter, however listening on my MBP speakers after he increased levels (using a preamp) it sounded usable for YouTube. Getting great results with a Zoom F4 into a 1DX II at line level (better than C300 II XLR input (CMC641)).

I'd expect the MixPre-3 output into the X-T3 to sound pretty good (camera input set to 1 click above off).

Sennheiser wireless should also work OK (with output gain set high so camera mic input can be set low).

Here's a low cost lav (requires plugin power) into the A7 III that sounds pretty good on YouTube:

The low-cost Saramonic preamps could also work OK for YouTube.

Yeah I already do that with my cinema camera. I was looking forward to not have to do it with my second camera. The idea of second camera was to be easier, faster etc to use and cut. Mirrorless is starting to look like not the best choice then.

It's all relative but generally, cinema cameras like the FS7 MKII and C300 MKII sound considerably better than mirrorless. I will say that I have only used my X-T3 as a gimbal/b-roll camera to date and I plan on shooting interviews with it for an upcoming project but I will be recording to my SD Mix Pre 3
using the X-T3 audio just for scratch. You should do some digging around and listen to stuff recorded with mirrorless. What may not be acceptable sound to many of us may be acceptable for some uses, of course.

The other thing to consider for conveniences sake would be to pickup a couple of Tascam DR-10L recorders. We did one shoot with the X-T3, using a pair of those on talent and the resulting sound was surprisingly decent. I felt it was acceptable sound but a bit muffled so I have since upgraded the mics on the Tascams to the Oscar Sound Tech 801s and the resulting sound is much better and pretty impressive for a $189 recorder and a $100.00 mic. Double system sound is more of a PITA, especially with the Tascams as there is no remote way to turn them on and off but to me, it's worth it. I mount a Røde Video Micro on board the gimbal and that gives somewhat usable sound into the Fuji for ambient. And for sit down interviews, it's real mics into the Mix Pre 3, which sounds excellent. For me, sound quality trumps convenience X 10.

Very old news indeed, it was released on 7 Feb.

V3.0 firmware was announced shortly after that, it'll be about AF improvements and coming in April.

Fuji's going to give us face selection too! That's what I am most excited about. I shoot a ton of coverage of scenes with a lot of faces and not being able to tell the camera who to focus and track is frustrating.

What are your typical AF settings for verite doc shooting on your X-T3, Puredrifting? (tracking sensitivity, AF speed, etc.) Do you use face detection?

It depends on what I am shooting but on the gimbal, I like -2, -2 AF-C and I usually leave face detection on. Keep in mind these settings will probably all become irrelevant in April when the new, much more responsive AF with the face selection feature becomes available in the 3.0 firmware

How does the Røde Video Micro sound?

Adequate, but it's a $79.00 mic. Camera mounted mics are useless for anything but ambient/scratch track for matching to good audio so why put a good mic on a camera?
I've never understood people who put a $2k Schoeps or Sennheiser on a camera mount, such a waste of money. But i've also learned in production, many people seem to enjoy wasting money,
its like its their hobby?

Bought an X-T3 finally

Testing that SanDisk card right now, I have several for my C200. I'm going to do a 30 minute clip at 200Mbps H265, then a 400Mbps. I'll report back.
*Edit, just remembered, the X-T3 only lets you do 20 minute clips in 4K 60p. So I'll do a couple of 4K 60p, then a 30 minute 4K 23.98fps.

Were you talking about those https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...xy_128g_ancin_extremepro_sdxc_128gb_card.html
Or the previous (95MB/s) ones?
How was the recording? Thanks

The ones in your link Alvise. Shot ten 20 and 30 minute clips. I didn't go through all of them in the computer but there were no dropped frame, stops or buffer overrun errors or warnings (not sure if the X-T3 gives you warnings but most cameras do). I think they are good to go.
I will try them on a few low stakes shoots before putting them into regular rotation but it's encouraging that these cheap cards seem to work fine since I have four of the 256s in the kit for my C200

Cool thanks. I use them too, frequently, on the C200.
I think I'll buy a couple of the new 170MB/s badged ones and eventually shoot 200mbps instead of 400mbps as you are doing.

I hate to do this to you guys, but feel I must... Fuji has some rebates going as of 2 days ago, and the cinema zooms are both $1000 off regular price. Please click the link in the post o help keep the Fujix forums funded, Robert gets something back as an affiliate.

Sorry, probably USA only, but ceck in your country because sometimes these are global.

Why I feel bad is that some of you are going to be spending a bunch of money on stuff you were drooling over, but put off as not "needed".

If I had a payout on my car crash, I might be spending a bunch of it on a couple items (T3 and 90mm being the most prominent).

Some prices have been updated since that post (I didn't check all of them) and are even better at B&H. They have been pushing Fujifilm lenses and cameras for a bit. Sales seem okay so I don't know why, but even the X-T30 gets a nice $300 savings with one of the body/lens preorder bundles.

Just amazing deals...I was very close to purchasing a X-T3 but went with the a6400 instead!

Which I think should mean the 95MB/s pros should be OK since min write speed on them is 30MB/s
