Fuji GFX100S 100Mb Medium Format shoots 4K 30p and 10bit, IBIS

It might just create amazing unique video. I was not blown away by the pre production sample gallery compared to a FF camera though. $10,000 is a steeper entry point compared to say a Panasonic S series with lower resolution. But if you need medium format you know you need it...

In reading the reports, it's apparently a big XT-3 with a mammoth sized sensor (1.7x FF 35mm!). I would be very interested to see this camera shot side by side with the XT-3 to see the true differences in sensor size when shooting 4K video.

This is an interesting release. I'm intrigued & curious.... will existing Fuji lenses cover the new sensor size? And also interesting this can't do 4:2:2 internal like the XT-3.

The X-T3 doesn't do 4:2:2 internal, it does 4:2:0, which still looks amazing.

And all of the existing Fuji GF lenses were made from the start to resolve 100MP.

They had this all planned out rather well, IMO.

It looks like a top-tier stills camera that might do OK video for its operator ... but pixel binning ~ 80 million of them (depending on the aspect ratio) should leave some unpleasant artifacts.

ps. They're not promising a higher res pixel shift - it may be released as an update eventually - thus leaving S1R as the current leader with 187.*

*Hasselblad has 400 MPX with the same Sony sensor but it retails for $48,000. And it probably has a two year "protection" on this feature ~ through the middle of 2020.

Probably remember this wrong but wasn’t there an April fools joke this year with a prank announcement with these sort of specs?? And now it’s real?

Either way, tech is moving very fast! Don’t need this sort of thing but no denying it’s very cool.

My bad, and they sure did. The 5+ stop internal IBIS and little things like bluetooth & wifi makes me think Fuji "gets it"... indeed impressed... my biggest concern would be that "the camera does use line skipping and pixel binning to read from the 11K-wde image" for video. But so did the 5DMKII (obviously without the 11k) and Canon sold a boat-load of those for vid-centric users.... so interested to see some early tests.

Yes and no. The thing is this isn't a new sensor size for Fuji, but just the latest in their GFX line where they already have 2x cameras and a set of reportedly excellent native lenses, and those lenses work with this new camera, so yes.

I'm betting from the way you asked your question that you were likely asking if the XF lenses that the APSC cameras like X-T3 use will cover the huge GFX sensor, and that has always been a hard no. It's not even the same mount.

Love my GFX 50s and X-T3 but I would sell both for this.

Wow.

I'm keeping my X-T3, but am seriously considering selling quite a bit of other gear to finance getting this. I shoot both stills and video and, pending DR and aliasing/miore tests, this may be an amazing tool for me. If this had prores Raw it might get me to sell my C200 and use this is my main video body...
