Great price for such a do-it-all lens. Particularly if by bringing the aperture down to a T/3.5 they've managed to make the size and weight super-managable. This will be a really interesting one.

I just see it as a waste of $15g really. You know you are constantly gonna be miffed at the wide end.

Of course I see lenses like this as 'story lenses' that you can go out with and not change all day - others may find a use for it.

Especially those that shoot 4kforHD can take a hit at the long end but you cant crop out.

I was thinking maybe this would be pretty nice for people shooting RED 6k since it's a larger sensor size than S35 but their website specifically says it won't cover more than 5K on RED (I assume dragon 5k). So really it is always gonna be 20mm S35 which isn't quite wide enough for a do-it-all lens...

Maybe in narrative, but as a one lens solution shooting doc/ENG style the way a lot of us are asked to with large sensor cams, 20 is NOT wide enough. 17mm on the Canon 17-120 is just on the line. But if we're wishing, I'd love a 12-120 that's actually hand-holdable. That would give me almost what I'm used to with my 13x4.5 (12-156 would be almost EXACTLY)on my ENG cam's and I used to go months without pulling those lenses off.
