FT-One - global shutter, 4K 900fps, 11 stops DR, SSD, and more

$120.000

It's been out for a while. Announced all the way back in 2011.
Not sure where EOSHD is pulling there info from...

March of technology. Moore's law. Doing 4K at 900 frames involves processing speed and a bit of software. Chips are falling in price. This is prime territory for price pressure. What are we impressed with here? Processing speed is never impressive - next year it'll be faster, at a lower price. For example, if you improve other things, like battery capacity, that's impressive - that technology has been slow to develop. But anything purely electronic - meh. What does this bring to the table otherwise? Price better be real low.

Well, clearly you're not impressed with anything on it, but I find 4K at 900 fps to be extremely impressive. The FS700 drops to about 200 lines of res when it goes to 960 fps.

Obviously this is a special-purpose high-speed camera, not a general cinema camera.

But if you can find some Moore's Law action on high-speed, I'd be very interested to see it. I'd love to find 5,000 fps of 720p at an affordable price point; so far, the best I can find is the FS700 at about 200p for $8,000 and that's only for under 1000 fps.

The Red Epic claims 150 fps at 4K, which is still quite a lot. Only a sixth of what the FT-One does, but still darned impressive. Even so, its maximum is only 300 fps, and that's at "2k" (which yields about 720p worth of res).

Especially with a Super35 sized sensor, that makes it doubly impressive.

It's a specialty cam like the Phantom, which also costs over 100K. You don't need this camera unless you want to do super slow mo at 4k.

The 3 yr old phantom flex can do 2500 FPS at HD resolution.. Up this to 3600 fps and add a 4k sensor and you're there.
The v1610 already has more than double the throughput of the flex with a similar pricetag.
