Hi,now I have a price offer for both FS7II and C300II for about the same price.Which one would pick? I already have the FS5 with raw and Odyssey7Q+. I will be using the camera for my projects and will be renting it (C300II or FS7II). Many colleagues here in Italy have the FS7,lots of people have chosen the FS7 here like in the rest of the world!
If you were buying today, and the FS7II and C300II are same price which one would you buy!? just a little survey here from fellow filmakers to help me make a decision!

One thing to consider also is the fact that i just bought the Movi Pro and I saw on Freefly forum that the Movi Pro can't take the C300II because of the height of it! and the viewfinder! I have to investigate further on that one but not sure yet about it,seems odd! Edit:got an answer about the C300ii Movi Pro,no problem at all putting the C300ii on it!

Back to title now..which one would you buy today!?:undecided
Many thanks in advance to all of you contributors :)

depends on what you are shooting......but, better faces tones (less time in post fixing) and better, cleaner low light/high ISOs.....C300 Mk II

I have to say it was easier for me choosing the FS7ii if it was same price as the FS7 and costs less than the C300ii, I have many Sony cameras and a Panasonic, never had a Canon camera...Now that they are same price,it's a tough one! even if I like the idea of owning one of the "C" series!

I shoot corporates,a lot of interviews for tv network and some ENG style (and here i use Xdcam F800 or X200)and i will offer renting services for both Movi Pro and whatever it will be:C300ii or fs7ii.

For corporate one probably wants an affordable zoom - sony and canon now have them - at different price points

It is worth considering the whole package

Also the f5 is about this price with a nice chunky new codec

Also xqd and cfast media are not cheap,.

Consider the full package

If you ever shoot Multicam it makes sense to go with the FS7 as it should match well with the FS5 with a minimum of tweaking (maybe even none?)
If you already have a bunch of e-mount lenses it also makes sense. If you're already using canon glass with your FS5 that's a moot point.

Two months back I shot my first wedding with the FS5 I still had back then and I rented a FS7 as the A-camera. I mostly shot XAVC-L on the FS7 because I didn't have enough XQD cards and with my limited knowledge about grading I had a pretty hard time getting to match the cameras. The FS5 had the Loxia 35 and the FS7 was mostly shot with the cheap 18-105. So it could have been the glass but I somehow I liked the FS7 better (mostly colorwise) even though the Loxia should deliver the better picture (shooting in the same codec).

After the price drop I was seriously thinking about the C300II too. In the end you get very nice colors (also skin tone) from CineEI.
Maybe you need a little more work in post or a decent LUT once. In the end it came out the the unique feature of each camera
and that was my final consideration: Autofocus or 4K/60p. I stuck with 60p

I simply do not buy the canon flesh tones myth, to my eye the FS7 has, in the last 16 months, delivered superb skin tones that look incredibly natural and alive.

The ergonomics of the C300 rule it out of any serious reckoning. It's so obvious when the C300 is being used on TV as the framing is always a foot too low. I hear the designer has gone on to design bonsai watering cans.

Hahaha, I think your right.

That's all relative, but compared to each other, XQD is the winner on price. A quick glance at B&H and Sony 128 GB XQD is $169. The cheapest 128 Cfast 2.0 I saw was double that with the main stream guys(Sandisk, Lexar) well over $300.

Heck, I need to pick up some new XQD's since I updated to v8 in my F55. 128GB's for $169 is cheap.

Ditched the FS7's EVF in favor of a Zacuto Eye, & swapped out it's arm for a rail mounted handgrip, a configuration that would work equally well with a C300 mk2, so there isn't a major ergonomic factor that would keep me from switching cameras.

And I like the way the C300 can be stripped down if needed.

I know what you mean. Canon does do some colorimetry stuff to produce more "flattering" fleshtones, but I'm fine without it.
Here is a little documentary pice, shot in the most challenging of light conditions, and I think the skintones came out true...which I prefer to anything Canon would have done with the diversity of skinetones present. It is a video piece made to get funders to back the project in coming years. It is still a rough cut, and there is no grade applied...just IDT and ODT and highlight recovery.

However, even with that said, if I were in the market for a camera around the price of the C300II and the new FS7II (if they are close in price), for doc, event work, I have to say I may be tempted by the C300II. 12bit 444 2k internal is a great spec!

to answer the OP's question: I'd take the C300 II.

Having used both the FS7 and the C300 II, even thought not a on daily basis, I find my way easier around a Canon menu, and prefer the look of canon's C300 II more. Whatever the big engineering cheeses at canon have been doing for the last 5 years, in their Cinema EOS line it works. I just want a camera that I dont have to spend 20 minutes fiddling menus if I want to change frame rate or picture profile. The FS7 is nice, and does a some higher frame rates, but I prefer the C300 II. i find it easier to work with and it's a Camera I don't have to think about too much to get a really nice image.

Thank you guys for all interesting points here.Lets say that lenses and cards aside (not a problem for me here!luckily), I was curious to know what people would do or have done when they bought the FS7 if it were/is same price point,I do have an offer for about the same price,it's "only" €300 difference! If you were buying your camera today and after using FS7 or C300MKii.
I found myself today in a situation that no other FS7 buyer had in the past as the price difference was huge!
Thanks again for your precious and very appreciated replies.
