FS700 Value

Thinking about selling my FS700 (w/ accessories, E lenses, adapters etc...). What is a reasonable way to calculate the value and sale price? My unit doesn't have the 4k upgrade. Thanks in advance!

Take a look at what the new FS700R sells for. They are new and comes with the 4K from factory. Then you know what you're competing with price wise, then of course deduct for yours being used and needing the 4K upgrade and add for the accessories.

TY. I guess I was looking for a formula or something for appraising. (Retail - 25% - $500) Something like that.

At retail minus 25% or 30%, you might get some takers but more likely a bunch of counteroffers. For me personally, 25% off wouldn't be enough to compensate me for all of the uncertainties surrounding "used." But for some people, particularly people who have a fixed amount of money available, that might be enough for them. There is no formula. You put out a number, and you see what happens. A lot depends on the extent to which a person trusts you and the condition of the camera. And accessories are another wormhole.

I noticed on E-Bay, people get into these crazy bidding wars where you might be able to get back most of your money.

For me, I never buy used cameras or lenses that are still in production because saving a meager 20% just isn't worth it. But ere have been plenty of bids where seller made back nearly the original price, so you just might get lucky.

BTW, what do you want to replace the FS700 with? The FS7Q is the best camera you can get for around $12K.

Selling at 100% on eBay means you get 90%, though, unfortunately.

Also, I love the "FS7Q" designation.

C300. Doing mostly run/gun corporate work. No narrative really. Just need fast set-ups and better bit rates. I'm picking up a gh4 for quick gimbal and over-cranking options.

I would take the C300 over the FS7Q as the C300 is perfect for corpo, events and reality. For anything else (films, MVs, artistic), FS7Q is superior IMO.

I had from Canon France a loan for 2 weeks with the C100. With atomos + canonlog the quality is oustanding, Save money instead of going to c300 because This combo is > than the internal codec of the C3.

Sounds stupid, but the LCD is a deal breaker form me on the c100. tired of rigging bit and peices. Want a solid cam that I can do doc, corpo and deliver to broadcast if needed in one unit with no fuss.

For sure the LCD is really bad for this kind of camera if we compare with the C300, but with the Ninja Blade, you have a better one and better video quality than the C300. Just try and compare the C300 vs C100 + Ninja Blade (prores / dnxhd 4.2.2 still 8bits) . After my test, I went to FS7Q because most of my customers need FPS, but it was clearly my choice for 24/25/30fps vs the C300.

But he just said he prefer not to connect any extra equipment as far as possible so it's a rather moot point.

I can can really understand the wish for something a bit more mobile. I love the FS700 but it's form factor makes it a bit difficult to bring along...
