I am shooting a film on this setup and we are shooting some of the first scenes this weekend. I took the setup outside and did some things around my house. Here is what I came up with.

Sorry for some shaky cam, just grabbed the rig and walked around a bit.

Hey Chris,

looks great, especially since you were hand holding that thing. I'm surprised you didn't get arrested for carrying a weapon in public.

in your opinion, how did the 4k look vs. the 2k?

I missed focus on a few seconds of real time which equals like 6-10 seconds on the shot. I wanted to include it to show the slow-motion. I should have left in the ending part with her shaking her head.

From what I noticed the 4K looks amazing but the 2K looked pretty good too. We have been doing lots of 2K 120 FPS this weekend and didn't really notice any degradation in the footage. Of courses, the 4K 24 FPS is a whole another league in itself but the 2K isn't that bad. I would shoot with it just for slow motion since you have access to the 4K for 24FPS.

The leaves against the sky have that awful purple fringing effect. Very unfortunate.

Everything looked great to me with one exception, at 1m20s the tree branches in the background were... very contrasty and ridiculously pixelated.

Might not be the camera as that could be chromatic aberration from the lens. That's pretty common if you shoot really shallow and on certain lenses. I notice that pretty bad (purple fringe) on my Zeiss 50mm when shot wide open.

Yeah I noticed that too in the RAW files with the purple fringing. It was interesting to see that, when I get the setup again - I will shoot more samples.

Until then, here is a trailer of some of the footage we shot this past weekend. We tried doing a different workflow -2K DPX instead of 1080p DXnHD - looks a bit better in the final export
