FS700 raw on the Atomos Shogun??

i've wrote the same thing to the other thread but now i'm start working for them to test their gear includes Shogun for up coming event (can't tell the detail now, sorry!) and hope i will share whatever the information i can put here. hope it does help you guys.

BTW, at the interview above, i really liked that Jeremy talked about the cost of the storage. that low cost HDD for the studio/indoor recording, it's very nice :) wish 7Q has same kinda idea for the cheaper/longer recording.

speaking of the 7Q, now it has everything we need for FS700. that wonderful product made the life of the legacy 8bit AVCHD camera so called FS700 so much longer.

so if you need that function, just grab one of them now. because Shogun and FS700raw, no one knows what's gonna happen right now, there is zero guarantee.

Exactly - nothing's changed with the ability to provide films for my clients using the FS700 just because of the advent of a new (albeit vastly improved camera). In fact the functions are still going to get better. Yeah, it's probably not worth as much but at it's original price it was never going to have much in the way of resale value to me. In addition to that, the 7Q continues the journey with me, whatever.

its on the site, its coming.. i am still fine with quality FS700 is producing.. consumers still can't make out difference between a video camera a photo camera.. actually happened at the wedding.. :P

I'd just like to know whether the Shogun will record RAW from the FS7. Since the FS7's expansion module outputs its RAW from a 3G-SDI, and Shogun only does HDMI 2.0, I've assumed not, unless there's been an update of which I'm unaware.

I don't think so. The FS700 records Sony RAW which had to be licensed by CD for transcoding to CinemaDNG. I cannot imagine that Atomos will go through this process for a camera which is close to end of life.

FS700 and FS7 are supposed to have the same raw format, so I guess the Shogun would be able to record both in the future (if they get it working).

Now the real question is... 60p 4K RAW? Or just 30p?

once ATOMOS try to capture FS700's 2KrawHFR up to 240fps with Shogun, it's good sign it can go for 4Kraw up to 60fps. that's i've heard from them before.

seems Shogun has 12G SD-HDI for capturing 4K60P signal from whatever the future camera so it's all depend on how good the processor the Shogun has, and how good engineer team they hired for.

Shogun is going to be "Shogun" for GH4/A7S category, i'm pretty sure it's gonna be huge market. small 4K camera with HDMI2.0, that's standard already.

that was huge relief they mention "FS700 RAW decode" at the website but we don't know...will they try to work with legacy camera like FS700 after huge success with that small 4K camera world? that's my question.

I believe so; Mitch has stated pretty clearly that there is no difference in formats, so in theory at least the 7Q will just plug into the FS7 and go. If the Shogun supports FS700 in future, it should likewise be able to just do the FS7 naturally.

I think that really is the big question, in all the IBC interviews they just say 'FS700 raw' without mentioning the frame rate. I'm going to be realisitc and guess it will do 4k 30fps raw and 2k 120fps, I think they would have cried 240fps raw from the rooftops if it could that. They do have a raided caddy though, if the processor can handle it that's crying out for 2xSSDs which should cope with even 2k240fps data rate. It looks like a great product though, all flavours of prores, great battery management, cheap media and finally a 1080p screen. I own an A7S and FS700 and need a better monitor so I think this makes a better buy for me than the admittedly impressive O7Q.

Yea...if there is any chance we could pair the FS7 with the Shogun...that would be great. I would love to lose that little monitor on the FS7 anyway ...it would work as a solid monitor and help avoid attaching a bulky dedicated external 4K recorder. I would love to try and keep the rig small
