Fs700 output HD/4k

Just wondering (after new 4k firmware upgrade) why the fs700 can still only output an 8 bit signal out of the sdi in HD... yet you can get a 4k uncompressed signal out of the camera to record externally? Is this right? Or is the 4k limited somehow? Just wondering as I have just had the update done by Sony and want to make sure I know what it can and can't do.

Yes that's right from what I understand. The 4k upgraded FS700 adds to it's SDI options a 12bit compressed 4k/2k RAW output. There is no change or upgrade to the 8bit HD 422 SDI output mode.
