Fs700 Novoflex issue

I received my fs700 today and tried to put on my novoflex adapter, but it would not lock into place. The adapter would not spin far enough for the 700 pin to lock. I have used this same adapter on my fs100 with no issues. I tried some cheap fotodiox adapters and they fit the fs700 fine, as well as my 16 2.8 emount lens. So, any other novoflex users have this issue? I have 2 novoflex adapters and the other one would not lock either. Either I have a 700 with a wonky mount, or the novoflex doesn't play nice with the 700.

Same Here. The Novaflex on my FS700 does not lock. It is annoying when pulling on a tight zoom or focus. The mount begins to turn. I wonder if the MTF mount locks to the E-mount? Certainly worth the extra money it it does.

Thanks for the confirmation. I was worried that it was an issue with my camera. May have to do a bit of grinding on the novoflex.

I have used an mtf on the 700, worked fine. I also used a rented novoflex on a 700 and that one worked fine as well, so it must vary adapter to adapter or 700 to 700, doesn't make much sense to me I guess.

Same here - mine won't lock.
I have both the FS100 and the 700... it has to be an issue with the camera itself because it seems to lock on the 100 no problem.
I'll double check that today to make sure, but I don't ever remember having an issue with the 100.

I'm going to check this out on another 700 today. Sony must have some tolerance issues with the 700 mount, or it changed slightly from the 100.

When I spoke to Mr Martinez from Sony at Cine Gear he told me that the FS700 e-mount is revised with tighter tolerances , harder materials, etc. and mount adapters that fit FS100 may not fit. They (Sony) upped their game on the lens mounting with the 700 because it is a different, higher level product. The FS100 mount is the same as the NEX consumer cameras, the FS700 is not.

Had the same problem with my FS700. The Novoflex locked perfectly on other 700's but not on mine. After fiddling with it it for a while, it did finally lock properly.
Same problem with the Metabones. I had two metabones, one that worked fine with my camera and the other that wouldn't. A friend of mine with a FS700 tried both adapters on his camera and both worked fine. There really is a tolerance issue with the mount on the FS700, some cameras have no issue and others do....not impressed with Sony on this.

I did the same thing DM did. Just ground down the ends off of all 3 tabs just slightly and the adapter locks into place perfectly. Before doing this, my Novoflex would not lock into place.

Yep, it's a bit of an issue. I solved the problem, and know the other FS700s I'd be renting. But, if someone were to rent a 700 they had not used and expect their adapter to fit, it may become troublesome.

After reading everyones experience with this adaptor, I tried again to re-mount the adaptor on the camera. This time I used a great deal of muscle turning the adaptor towards the locking position and this time it locked into place! Thanks for all the comments.

This does give me a bit of concern. I will be purchasing an FS700 tomorrow and want to order the appropriate adapter. I will need an canon eos and a zeiss contax C/Y adapter to fit on the FS700. What fotodiox adapter had you used? Or do you recommend still going the Novaflex route and shaving it down? Also, anyone out there found a decent C/Y to NEX E mount (or should I say custom FS700 mount...)Thanks for the input.

Yes, it worked on the FS100 and not on the FS700. I too took an Exacto-type knife and created a little bevel on the round part of the Novaflex that engages with the pin. I could see a mark from trying to put it on, and I worked on that spot. I like the idea of a knife, because it creates large shavings. I would be worried about creating fine metal dust, because it might get transferred to the sensor.
