FS700 Mic Mounting Options

Just say for some reason you don't want to use the handle at all times on the FS700 (like if you're shooting yourself and want to see the lcd facing the front.) Is there anywhere else on the camera you can mount an XLR mic holder? Is it handle or nowhere for a mic? Just wondering!

Well, yes there's a 1/4"/20 for the hand grip you could remove and replace with a cold shoe (lots to choose from). If I were shooting myself and looking at the LCD, I wouldn't want a microphone on the camera unless it was picking up a scratch track because I was wearing a Zoom H1 with a lav or something. If you were feeling flush, there's always a Noga arm or its eBay equivalent you could hang something, but for the price of a Noga Arm, you could get a lav, some cable and a way of plugging into the XLR. Sorry to bang on and on about that, but it will sound a lot nicer, even in very challenging environments. Inverse Square Law applies to sound as well as light.
