I've been debating the alphatron myself (for the FS700).
I had the Zacuto EVF for quite a while, but was never quite happy with it as a solution for the FS100.
What kind of mount are you using with it?
Also - I assume the lamp was already broken, with the breakaway piece hiding inside?
That really sold it.

Luis, yes the lamp was broken and hanging off a c-stand, there was also some drywall dust and pieces that dropped when he hit it.
I was using a wooden camera evf mount for my evf but just got a solid camera evf mount, top plate and pl mount. The solid camera mount is a thing of beauty, I'm also using it on the epic. No other mount comes close.
If you want to borrow the alphatron for testing, give me a call after wednesday.

I had 2x 5 k tungsten units outside coming through a sliding glass door and theres a 2k mighty in the kitchen behind. The key/tv light is an 8 bank kino. There was also a practical in that lamp behind him that did flicker but I knew that it could be fixed. overall, a lot of light and a lot of heat - just something that you have to deal with when shooting hi speed. I normally wouldn't use a 2k because of the possibility of flicker but the location didn't allow anything bigger and I got away with it, maybe because it was so hot and the filament didn't have time to cool.
