FS700 future values

Anyone considering selling their 700 due to an impending value drop, possibly caused by introduction of the FS7? I decided to sell mine a couple of weeks ago on Ebay. Got over $5200, unfortunately Ebay and Paypal fees ate up about $400 of that. Other auctions since mine closed have come in substantially lower, such as a camera with kit lens for $4300 (mine had only an extra battery) . I'm only comparing cameras upgraded to 4K.

My opinion is the camera will routinely sell for $3500 in a few months. Not good for current owners, a goldmine for anyone looking for a great camera on a budget.
Other opinions?

I loose more by selling now and having to rent a camera on my current productions up to when FS7 is available, so no, i wont sell.

I'm keeping the FS700 + 7Q as a B-Cam / backup. No reason to sell when you are talking such a huge loss. Plus, 7Q is a great monitor and will work with the FS7.

4K/120fps might hold it's value for a while... That's the reason i'm not trading up. I know it is quite specialised, but something I personally need and will probably need more and more as and when 4K becomes more popular.

Same here. B-cam, backup, or even a unit to rent out to others while I use the FS7... Odyssey can still be a dual-recording solution (10-bit ProRes from the FS7's SDI out, not 4KoHD but still good!) or even a 1st AC or client monitor.

For most people in our boats you either sell the camera now and upgrade or keep it and ride it til its worth a thousand bucks.

I am keeping my FS700/7Q combo, I plan to keep it as my A cam for at least another year or 2.

I am sure the FS7 is a great camera but I don't see it delivering anything the 700/7Q combo does now that the 4K Prores is just about here.

I just sold my C100 though and replaced it with the A7s, the 100 was Bcam to my 700 and now the A7s is my new Bcam, and it adds both tiny form factor and incredible low light functionality.

I am really holding out for some big new thing like universal shutter. I think this will be the norm in a few years, and switchable size imagers like the A7s just a menu selection in the camera and it uses C size instead of full frame, it is great to be able to reduce angle of view at the selection in a menu.

My reason is all my clients are extremely happy and blown away with the cameras I have. If at some point something comes out that is a huge improvement and my clients need it, well then I will update. I don't really see a camera in this price class they has a better picture, and I deal fine with the ergonomics of the 700. I shoot 90% on sticks and I almost always use a field monitor, so the 700/7Q is really a very slick system for me, with the A7s as B-cam it is easier to match than the C100, and the C100 matched fine as well, but the A7s really is similar to the 700 and it is a FF sensor, and that is really something special too. Like I said I like to upgrade when the new cam does something unique or much better.

Now if my FS700 met an early demise or was stolen. I would think very hard about replacing it with a FS7, but I might still get the much lower price (now) 700 because it does what I like it to do so well.

If I had the 7Q I would have probably kept mine- but I'm simply not interested in external recording. The internal options of the FS7 is what sold me. Now just waiting for any small price drop, or for B & H to throw in something with it before taking the plunge. Not shooting another feature until next summer anyway. Until then my 8 year old HVX will still do nicely for day to day projects.

No reason to upgrade for me. The quality in combo with the 7Q is just terrific. I shoot slog2 all the time and ProRes is such a great codec for that purpose. I'll keep it! We'll see how good the FS7 is compared to the 700 (image-wise), i can't imagine that the XAVC-HD is better than 4K2HD. i can imagine that XAVC4K is a bit sharper though! we'll see :)
