FS700 = FS100 price drop?

It's probably inevitable that they will drop a little since there are bound to be more used ones for sale. But it will also depend on what Sony does with the price.

I'd guess not really. More in the secondhand market perhaps but the suggest retail seems appropriate for the FS700 to keep the FS100 where it is...

cheers
Paul

If the FS700 is in the $9,000 price range, that shouldn't affect the FS100. They're two different price points. If your budget is in the FS100 range, you're not looking at he 700. Well, not to buy, anyway.

Maybe with the fs100 firmware update they will have something up their sleeve in order to maintain the price point.

They just increased the cost of the Carl Zeiss 24mm NEX lens $100, if that hints at their mindset.

Sony increased the cost on most all of their lenses recently.

The change in value of the yen to the dollar is causing several Japanese companies to reprice things. The F3 went up in price not long ago, the 5D Mark III (even though it's the same price in yen as the 5D Mark II was introduced at) is more expensive (in dollars) than the 5D Mark II ended up at, etc.

I hope it does, but I doubt it. i have to agree with those that mentioned the 700 really is targeting the next step up customer and therefore its price point is just far enough away that it wont affect the 100's pricing.

Sony never drops prices except to 'street price' levels. There are HDV models from years ago still listed at full price, way out of whack with the market.
