FS700 Frame Grabs for Sports

This past fall I had quite an awakening when shooting local high school football. Realizing that all of my images would be running online at 1280 wide, I decided to shoot the games in 1080x1920 video mode with a high shutter on my Canon 5D Mark III. The results were fair to pretty good. I was shooting some fast glass (f2) and a Zacuto mounted on a monopod. At 1920 I was still able to crop quite a bit as needed. Basically I was shooting stills at 30fps, which is great. The only trade-off was no autofocus. Shooting at F2 made this a constant issue, actually. I'm wondering what's on the horizon with the introduction of the 70D, but more in tune with this forum, I'm REALLY curious about what could be accomplished with an FS700 rig at 240fps, especially if set up with the e-mount power zoom and autofocus engaged. Thoughts?

Nice idea, but unless you go for the 7Q or the Sony 4K recorder then you'll be having to record the 240fps in short buffered captures, with delayed-write times after each capture. If you use the end trigger option then you can wait until some interesting action takes place, but inevitably you'll miss some further action while you're waiting for the previous capture to write to the card.

But if you use the 7Q then you capture 240fps continuously in 2K RAW (I think I've got that right), although to do this for a whole football match will require massive recording space, needing multiple SSDs. Now if they add the 'popular codec' (ProRes?) to the continuous 240fps capability (not sure if this will be possible?) then that makes it a more realistic proposition for your needs I'd imagine.

I'm sure you've considered that the FS700 + glass + O7Q + power will be a significant increase in weight over the 5D, right?
