FS700 firmware 3.10 released!

Sony has released the promised firmware (v3.10) update that adds support for some of the e-mount lenses that need correction.

Here's what's new:

1. Distortion correction of E-mount lenses supported (SELP18105G, SELP1650)
2. Iris ring operation supported (SELP28135G)
3. Direction change on zoom ring rotation (SELP28135G)
4. Operation stability improvement

There's also a 2.10 update for those who hasn't upgraded their FS700s to v3/4K.

Now bring on v4 with fix to edge contrast issue, direct ISO/Gain changed via scroll wheel. And throw in XAVC-S while you're at it, will you Sony? ;)

(although I highly doubt we'll see any more firmware updates to the FS700. This one probably only came as they want to sell the 28-135 lenses to FS700 owners, don't think they would have bothered for the 18-105 alone)

I can confirm the SEL18105G works perfectly now without any distortion.

Completely agree about trying to flog the 28-135 to FS700 users hence the firmware upgrade. Although I hope they will prove me wrong and release another firmware update addressing the points you have made (slim chance, but oh well).

I still want to know what the 4th point is all about "Operation stability improvement" ... what exactly have they improved?

Any reason to upgrade for us Metabones users?

Dont seem to be a lot of info about that operational stability point.

With the update, is the lens correction for lenses like the 18-105 applied in all recording modes including 2K Raw 120/240, 4k Raw, etc? Is there a menu option to turn it on or is it automatically enabled for the lenses that require it?

Thanks!

Yes.

It is auto corrected 'on the fly' so to speak. I didn't see anything that required enabling inside the menu.

And a pifemaster said, you have to put all your picture profiles etc back in the camcorder as all your settings will be reset.
