FS700 filming a subject against an LED wall at a corporate event.

Hi. Does anyone have experience of this? I was filming a corporate awards event last night using an EX3 and an FS700. The speakers were standing in front of an LED backdrop panel display. I attach stills from the footage of both cameras. You will see from the EX3 camera still that it has managed to record the colours coming from the LED backdrop panels while the FS700 does not. Pointing both cameras away from the panels and all colours were recordiing perfectly fine. Can anyone shed light on why the FS700 did not seem to like the backdrop panels.

Thank you

Roy

Hi seanmc. Yep, settings exactly the same on both cameras. 720 50p, 3.6k. I have no idea why the images could have looked so different. As I say, pointing both cameras away from the LED back panels and all colours reproduced correctly and accurately. This just happened when the FS700 was pointed at the panels.

Thank you Timo. That's the only explanation I have too, but I would just like to know a bit more why - if that is possible - to try to avoid it happening again with the FS700. Thank you for your comment tho.

Wow, that's some substantial desaturation on the LED panel. Was the exposure set on auto? Keep in mind that with the FS700, the default setting for color balance is also auto when the camera is set to auto exposure. If that was the case, then the camera probably read the background as color-shifted (to mis-use an astronomical term) and decided to compensate.

Too bad the function is over, I'd be interested to see what the result would be on auto vs manual color balance/exposure.

Hi Disambiguous66. Love the name. Thank you for your comment, but I'm afraid the camera was on full manual. Manual exposure, manual everything. I did flick to full auto before the event began just to see if it might make any difference but it did not. Still stumped I'm afraid. I've checked the camera since the event and it seems to be working perfectly. The only problem seems to have been the light coming from the panels - but I really do not know. Cheers for your comment tho.
