FS700 feature requests!

Ha ha the camera is not even out yet - but maybe this is the time to ask and not to just gush about the (wonderful) slomo

The handle - does is have a focus check button - I dont think so - but it does have an auto iris button

It would be good to see a menu option for this to enable focus check, not AI

Focus check - does it feed to an external monitor my FS100 it does not

Zoom or crop mode.

with a 4k sensor it would seem to me (and my minimal knowledge of computers and chips) that a centre portion should be able to get close to FS100 quality

I would love a digital zoom mode which could make up for the lack of zoom lenses

for example a 16-50 with a digital doubler would rarely come off my camera..

What would you like to see..

I pretty certain I am getting the FS700. The only 2 things I would like to see are

1) Internal Mic - That would nice for a lot of stuff where you just need reference sound. I try and take a minimal approach to shooting, so I rig up only what I need and like to keep the camera light. Not having the mic also makes the camera a little more stealth for when you need to be on the down low. Visually, it looks 2x as huge with the mic on top.

2) Crop Modes. Having a 3x crop like the GH2 would be amazing.

I'm pretty impressed with Sony as a company. Seems like they really listened to the FS100 users and really wanted to make an excellent product (FS700) at a good price point, unlike Canon who seems to only want to give you base features on the 5D3, and charge you an extra $12K for any professional features. I was fully expecting the FS700 to price at $10K, and when it came in at just under 8K, I completely and pleasantly surprised. With camera gear, those kind of surprises are very, very rare.

White balance.

When you AWB it adjusts temp and M->G shift

But you dont know the second value so..

Display of M->G shift and adjustabilitiy of same

(this would have great value in building profiles which leads to)

.. namable swappable individual profiles

a finer control on exposure evaluation..

A big RGB histogram (or wavform) available through the status check button
 
For me ever to buy any sony lenses I would need to be able to change the aperture more quickly so..

Speed up the response of the aperture wheel!


 
I am a simple person. I like simple things. Honest.

I really want the display to show me the DURATION of a clip.

Every talking head that's had media training asks 'how long was that?'

I don't want to use a stopwatch, but I use a PIX220 with my FS100 now because it's worth it to know.

That PIX220 has duration. My EX1s have duration. Every camera I know has a duration. Except the FS100. I hope the FS700 doesn't accidentally forget it.
 
IIRC, FS100 has got 'touch focus' with E-Mount lenses that do AF. Tap on something, it focuses on it. Tap elsewhere, it focuses on that.

Just like a handycam. Or an Epic for that matter.

Would that do?
