FS700 - autofocus without auto exposure?

I have an FS700 with a Sony 16-50 f/2.8 A-mount lens connected via an LA-EA2 adapter. Is it possible to get the lens to autofocus without also doing auto exposure? It seems when I set the autofocus option on the lens and camera body, it makes everything automated. I'd like to try autofocus while still manually controlling shutter speed and aperture.

I'm sorry, I don't have more info, I use exclusively E-mount lenses on my FS700...

For the absolute best stabilization (supports Active Mode) when doing run and gun, I use the 18-200 Power Zoom (SELP18200)

For other work, I use the super wide 10-18mm f4.0 (SEL1018) - fantastic lens, highly under-rated in my opinion - even at 10mm, it's not too fishy & distorted.

I bought my a6000 on a B&H super special with both the kit lens and the Zeiss 16-70 f4.0 (the only time I ever saw that lens on sale), and so I share that lens with the FS700 sometimes.

And in case I need razor thin depth of field, I have the 35mm f1.8, but hardly use it.

All those lenses work perfectly with the FS700 supporting full auto focus (and face detect, which helps prevent back focus, especially in impromptu outdoor interviews where the subject is backlit) while allowing full manual, semi-auto or full auto exposure.

I don't do any cine / indie film work, so your mileage / kilometerage may vary with this info...

I'm dying to find a fast (F/2.8?) E-mount lens (that has all that functionality) but with a steady aperture and somewhere in the 16-50mm range. Know of anything?

Unfortunately, Sony has chosen not to make any f2.8 zooms in native E-mount so far.

If this link works properly, it is a list of all E-mount lenses made by any company for either super 35 or full frame sensors:

There are 16mm and 20mm f2.8 primes, if that helps. I've tried the 16mm, it works, but no OSS, so hand held footage is not as smooth as with stabilized lenses. Of course, no A-mount lens is stabilized either, so I guess this is not an issue for you, like it is for me.

I think this is going to be a case of you can have one thing (AF), or the other thing (f2.8), but not both. Because the E-mount is relatively new (~4 years), lens options are more limited than the legacy mounts. Someday that will change, but that day is not today.

It seems the LA-EA3 and LA-EA4 adapters have the same f3.5 iris issue... probably that is the "right" amount of light for the AF sensor to function properly / as engineered. Not an issue for stills, because the adaptor kicks the iris to the value you set momentarily to capture the still image, but a real problem for video shooters.
