FS700-7Q No audio on playback issue

Did my first shoot today with the 7Q. What a beauty! Great monitor, razor sharp, love the zooming option to view focus while shooting, lots of great features BUT... I was shooting in 4K2HD and although the sound was recording fine during the shoot, there is no sound on playback. The VU meters are dead. Tried restarting a few times but the problem persists. We've done tests and the sound seems to record fine and plays back ok right after a take, but if I shut down the unit and turn it back on there's no more sound on playback. Am I missing something?

Thanks for any input, and especially some SOUND output...

I have the same problem. Only the last clip plays back audio although the audio is really there on all the clips.
I haven't found a work around yet. I'm on the latest version of firmware.

sounds scary... thanks for the heads up. I already shot a few things using the latest FW, but didn't have this problem. To clarify, the sound data is written to the ProRes/WAV files, but doesn't play back on the unit?

Exactly! If you playback right away the sound plays fine, but if you shut down the unit, then turn it back on, the sound won't play on the same clip. No VU. nothing. But the sound is actually recorded. Looked pretty bad in front of a director yesterday when he thought we had lost the sound for 1/2 days of a complicated shoot in/out of a car in movement... Luckily the sound is actually on the file, it's a playback issue.

I have to say I never use the 7Q playback except sometimes for the last scene to be sure that we got the shot. To check more than the last scene with the director / client I always eject the SSD and attach it to a MPB via tb. It's faster, better, easier and you can place the computer & people better than around the 7Q with camera. If you are done you can go on shooting with another SSD and download the files in the meanwhile as the SSD is already attached. My 2 cts.#
edit:
It's for ProRes only

Yep. This has been the case since the beginning. Also happens with video sometimes when your camera is turned off or disconnected, theres no video just a black screen on Odyssey.

Thanks Mitch!
Can't wait for the next Firmware update! I have a shoot coming up in Dubai and it would be fantastic to shoot it in 4K ProRes.
Great unit otherwise, bumps the FS700 into a higher category. Keep up your good work!

I had the same thing happen on a shoot yesterday. Played back some clips fine with audio. Later, tried to go back and look at some stuff, no audio. Client standing there wondering what's going on. Not cool. We pulled the drive and looked at it on the computer to make sure it was there, which it was, but not fun to do with the client around...
