Just downloaded Catalyst browse and it seems like it can only transcode one clip at a time, not a batch?

any ideas?

Thanks

That is my current understanding.

While the software has a great colour engine it is still 800 miles from being usable.

Have you tried the pay for version (browse and prepare?)?- I need to check that out.

Is Catalyst Prepare worth the money? I like the interface of the browse software and for what it is missing it is free after all. I've been thinking of going with the paid prepare software down the road. I need to take a sit down and see if the added functions will be worth the cost to me.

I bought Prepare and it doesn't even open FS7 files (just like Browse used to, before the update).

I'm testing Catalyst Browse and Prepare for their differences, so far works fine on my 4K XAVC 4096x2180 MFX files from F55..

Browse seems quite useless with really the only ability to review dailies and make ONE GLOBAL color setting which can then be exported as ASC-CDL or 3D LUT.

I'm doing a more comprehensive review, but it needs more tools such as highlight recovery, brightness and contrast sliders, etc..

Cat Browser lets you export 3D LUT or ASC-CDL... but Catalyst Prepare is better because you can adjust color setting per individual clip.

Never really played with this software until this week, when Sam messaged me about it with a screen shot. Only then did my ears perk up a bit.

...but at $199 USD for Catalyst Prepare I'm not sure I would buy it. Davinci Resolve is FREE and does the same thing only better.

Cat Browse and maybe Prepare are ideal for medium skill client. Resolve is a bit too deep.
Catbrows has simple sliders that a client who uses ACR or LRoom (many many do!) can use.

I see this workflow.

-Client on Set views monitor with LUT- which shows EI choice.
-End of day you dump rushes with client (the web is still useless for 200GB so dump on the spot makes total sense unless the client is your neighbor)
-Client installs CatBrowe
-Opens footage and sees same as the saw on monitor
-Optioally makes adjustments using interface a 10 year old could use (or more simply a 50 year old!)
-Transcodes to codec/res of their choice
-Is then ready to edit.

ps I think Resolve is only free for a while - I got given Photoshop free in 1997 - clearly they were establishing themselves as the de-facto image processor (it worked!) - once Resolve has bankrupt a few competitors they will then charge. Im doing my first 2 edit projects in Resolve right now! Full cirlce - Adobe are bankrupting them selves with current price model!

Does Resolve show metadata from the XQD folder structure? Because that's a huge advantage IMO.
