Hi all

I know someone out there had both, and need to figure out a fair translation of a coming client's FS7 settings to match my FS5... copy/paste below:

"FL Light" Preset Matrix, User Matrix is On and increase the Matrix Level to +35. I also have both Adaptive and Preset Matrix turned ON. I have Detail turned ON but set at 0. Aperture is ON and set at +15. Auto Knee is ON and Knee Saturation is ON and set at +15. Noise Supression ON, Mid setting. I'm running Master Black at -5. White Clip is ON and set at 102.7%. I generally use Standard Gamma set to REC709 but switch to HyperGamma 8 if I'm outside. EVF Brightness -8. EVF Peaking ON, Normal Peaking 55, Color Peaking L 50. Zebra 1 @ 70%, Aperture Level 5%, Zebra 2 @ 95%.

.....some of that is easy enough, but the lack of a FL Light matrix (which I'm assuming removes green spikes) is kind of a rough starting point. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Can't you just shoot a chart with the same camera under the same conditions and 'one click' sort it in post?

Nope. Director is hoping for some proxy clips to go straight to web, they've already done a few with the FS7 in other countries.

Bugger. Can you burn in a LUT like you can on the FS7? Might be a quicker way to get closer if you did that with both.

You can't burn LUT on the FS5,you can't even view LUT on FS5! only thing is externally with smallhd or Odyssey7q.

Ben,and you haven't seen the image when you overexpose with log on the FS5 LCD..horrible,you said it well!
you do have slog assist but it's a total crap:badputer:

There's no reason to burn in a LUT. That is what paint menus are for.

Plus, it is not too difficult to match any two Sony professional cameras if you have a DSC Chroma Du Monde chart and scopes. Even by eyeball with a good monitor it is not that hard. But it does take an investment of time. The key is to choose a look you like on the lesser of the two cameras, and then dumb down the better camera until you hit that mark.
