FS7: FS7 sample footage.

Hi all. I posted this originally in the FS5 thread in the Industry news section, but this is probably a better place:

I have a pre-order for the FS5. I've never used the long GOP codec before and I've read that it needs a more powerful computer. I'm running a decent iMac with prem cc but I'd prefer to be safe than sorry and carry out some sort of testing.

So my question for the FS7 owners, does it have the option to record in the same codec as the FS5? UHD at 100mbps long GOP. And would some kind soul be able to share a piece of sample footage with me (using dropbox?) at this codec rate so I can check my workflow is ready for it.

It would be greatly appreciated and a big help to stop me worrying about this potential future hurdle.

Thanks.

You have placed an order.. you could ask your dealer.. I know its a bit much for someone actually making money from your purchase to do something that involves more than shifting a box but you could try!

UHD XAVC-L is a really poor codec. It's efficient but weak and very heavy on computer performance. When I heard fs5's got only that in 4K instant no go for me (Or maybe I'm just spoiled by fs7? We've been working with 4:2:0 8bit footage for years). FHD on the other hand it's totally different story. It's nice to grade (10bit!! 4:2:2!!) and efficient, maybe it's slightly more heavy on computer power but since it's fhd you won't really notice. For me fs5 is a really good full hd camera with UHD added just for kicks.

Yea that mirrors some of the things I've heard. Which is why I'm eager to get my hands on a sample of XAVC-L to check I'm not going to have any issues.

I'll certainly try the dealer if I have no joy here.
