FS7: FS7 Premiere Pro project 1 frame off sync in Davinci Resolve

So im trying to get my head around Resolve, but already at the start im having headaches. My entire project is 1 frame off sync from my offline reference file, and i have tried several methods of exporting / conforming to mitigate the issue.

Exporting XML
Exporting EDL
Removing all graphic and placeholders and then exporting
Removing all slow motion footage and then exporting
Removing all effects on all clips so timeline is now 100% 25p and then exporting
Starting new project in Davinci to remove any past project bugs

Nothing. Its still 1 frame off sync.

I see theres problems with mixed framerate projects and that many others have had this issue on Mac OSX with framerates 29.97 or something similar. Mine is all 25p and the slow motion that has been speed up to remove the slo mo effect, has also been removed in my most skeleton version. The problem still persists.

Anyone have the same problem before?

Conforming in Davinci Resolve can be one of the most frustrating things about the process. Suffice it to say, I've had lots of problems.

Can you say more about 1 frame off-sync? Do you mean the whole project shifted by 1 frame? If so, can you find the place where it gets offset and manually fix it? Or do you mean that every clip is offset by 1 frame?

First, Resolve will not handle any off-speed unless it's baked into the clip. Either you can speed up/slow down your clip and bake it, or you can color the original clip and do your speedup/slow down after color correction. If you've shot in S&Q mode, the off-speed is already baked into the clip.

Resolve can only handle one framerate in a project. Further, once the framerate has been set, it can't be changed. Kind of ridiculous, I know. Create a new project in resolve and set your framerate correctly. Next, bring in one of your clips manually, and add it to a timeline. This should confirm that your project is setup for your clip's settings. Then attempt to import your XML.

If the timebases (not just the framerate) is different between clips, you're going to run into problems. This can happen if you recorded some of your footage at 25p and some at another framerate without using S&Q. If this is the case, the only option you really have is to attempt to bake in a new timebase—either by running a conversion through media encoder or by exporting from premiere.

If this doesn't solve your problem. Create a new premiere project, and import your XML. Do you see the 1 frame off sync there?

If none of this works, what version of Resolve are you running?

I have now taken a closer look at it, per your suggestions. When overlaying the master file and viewing frame by frame at the start of the film, i already see the frame offset. It looks like the whole project is one frame off. I can at best suggest that the master file has 1 less frame than what Davinci thinks the XML has on the very start. So by removing the first frame in Davinci and then lining everything up in Premiere Pro after grade, that would solve everything i think.

When importing the XML into Premiere Pro, there is no such frame offset.

I removed my S&Q slow motion wich i have sped up to 1/1 speed in 25p again. But the project is still offset by one frame. I started a brand new project before importing the clean 25p XML.

I have a mix of UHD interview and HD footage in the edit.

Edit:

So i just exported my project from Resolve, just to test the re-import into Premiere Pro for gathering audio, graphics, and grade together in the final stage. And the offset frame is in sync after rendering out of Davinci. So this is very weird. This 1 frame offset exists only inside Davincis own edit and color. Input and Output is in sync...

Wow. I just exported my timeline into individual clips, and almost all my interview files are not even complete. Most of my interview shots have serious issues. Theres a little part in the interview where he does a circular motion with his hands, but its not even in my Premiere Pro edit. For some reason, almost all my interview shots are now this circular motion, before it cuts to black and empty video. This is crazy. Everything looks fine in the color panel, except those part of the interviews that will be bypassed by images/graphics. For some reason Davinci knows which ones this is, and all of them are this circular motion shot. Its rather funny, but mostly frustrating.

Is Resolve 12 in beta or what? Should i roll back to 11?
