FS7: FS7 Menu Lag?

We recently got an FS7 in our studio, and probably my only complaint is the menu lag. Do we have a defective unit, or does everyone else experience this as well?

The camera just runs very slowly in comparison to other video cameras I have used such as the C100 which responds instantly to button presses. The FS7 has a delay that makes for a very slow and quirky experience, the GUI runs as if it it's powered by an Intel 386.

The menu and button system is laggy. What version of firmware are you on? 1.10 I found more responsive than previous. I've gotten so used to it now but it was a little frustrating at first. It should be something that could be improved with firmware.

We just got it last week, came shipped with 1.10 firmware. I can't imagine it being any worse, that must have been horrible. Hopefully they can optimize the performance in a firmware update. My old Digital8 handycams had a far faster menu.

My old Digital8 handycams had a far faster menu.

To be fair, your old Digital8 handicam wasn't running Linux and keeping track of multiple image buffers.

But yeah. I suspect the 5/55/FS7 is running some very abstracted code (i.e., not assembly), and the firmware team is very understaffed.

Yes the slowness is incredibly annoying I often miss the menue item I'm gunning for the menu system is a mess anyway but that was allways a Sony problem.

My advise: don't use the joystick on the handle its basically useless use the menu wheel on the body that actually works.

Joystick is very frustrating. Pushing it to select a choice doesn't work smoothly. I may use the joystick to toggle through options but the dial to select the option.

I replaced the sony arm with the shapeWlb arm and the Sony EVF mount with the zacuto evf mount slowly this "out of the box ready to go" camera is starting to become operable. Once zacuto gets their **** together with the gratical (March?April?may?june?) Ill get that too. Then 4k later I will have a camera in my hands.
