FS7: FS7: HDMI and SDI Simultaneous Video Signal?

On the FS7, is it possible to have simultaneous HDMI and SDI out? I’d like to have the HDMI go to my Nyrius Aries Pro Wireless Transmitter and SDI go to my Odyssey 7Q, but it seem like it’s either one or the other, and not possible to have both working at the same time.

Am I missing something or is this just the way it is?

I can use the HDMI out on the 7Q to the Nyrius, but it’s very intermittent in getting connection. When using the HDMI port on the FS7, it works / connects much better, but the drawback is that it’s either the Nyrius or the 7Q, not both, unless I'm missing a step. Hoping there's some type of weird combo (common the the FS7) that can get this to work.

Thanks

Use the output from the Odyssey to wireless out.

And make sure you have a great HDMI cable, using clamps on the Odyssey and wireless unit will help. These are the best HDMI cables I have found:

You can also get SDI to HDMI converters. I would test to make sure they are solid before buying though.

HDMI in production environment is a bit of a nightmare.

What? How did you do that Ossound?

I've searched through the menu and manual, but I just cannot get the HDMI and SDI to work at the same time. There must be a step in the menu combo that I am missing. Back to trying to figure out the combo.

Thanks, you've given me hope.

Yes, HDMI from the 7Q to Aries works sometimes (I've tried 3 cables), but it's really intermittent. Much more solid when coming from the FS7 HDMI.

All of the outputs have worked as long as I can remember on my FS7. I don't think it's any magic setting just enabling all outputs really. HDMI and SDI2 share the same settings so if one work so should the other.

see page 105 of the pdf for v 3.0 fw... it has the output formats & limitations - based on what resolution, etc. you are shooting
and yes - I've had both sdi/hdmi outputs going at the same time on multiple shoots

I can get a signal out from both HDMI and SDI if the Rec Format is 1920 x 1080.

When I switch to UHD or 4K, then it's either / or.

Have you successfully been able to have Rec Format at 4K / UHD and also get the signal out to both SDI and HDMI?

Attached is a picture of what the Output Format looks like when 4K or UHD is selected. It's either one or the other.

EDIT: I noticed in the manual that it seems like if it's 29.97fps I have the option of both, but not at 23.976. Really strange and unfortunate how that is, since most people shoot in 23.976 and not 29.97 :(

Ah, so it makes a difference what frame rate you're shooting! With 25 fps, you've got all outputs, but not so with 24 fps. Bummer.
To display the waveform, you've got to enable SDI output (I have no idea why).
And if I want to double check exposure with false color on my HDMI monitor, apparently I first have to disable SDI, thus loosing waveform.
Maybe I just shouldn't be so paranoid about exposure?

Damn, HDMI + SDI does NOT work with 23.976, but does with all other frame rates. So freaking weird on Sony's end to make that choice. Make no sense.

I really should just invest in an SDI wireless system as opposed to the ghetto Nyrius, but so much $$$$

i'm in the same boat... i was wondering why i lost waveform in CineEI on fw3. It's because I have a wireless HDMI transmitter! That's kind of frustrating but what can you do?
Back to Zebras as my only exposure tool. If I had at least the false colour LUT I created with LUTCalc on a custom button, that would be sweet...

Above picture shows Ikan D7W from HDMI, SmallHD 702 from SDI1, Marshall 56 from SDI2 and the FS7 LCD screen all working simultaneous.

Side note, if you try the D7W from HDMI with camera in 23.98 or 24p and it won't work on that particular monitor. I take it your base frequency is set to 25p?

Yeah I figured you were shooting PAL, the Sony's with HDMI and 23.98 or 24p don't work so hot on many monitors. I own the D7W and it only work in 23.98/24p using SDI, not over HDMI.
