Not sure if I need one but I want one in case of need.

A LED light for the FS7 for Run and gun and fill in light.

There are a lot of lights out there form 30 euro to 600 euro, I can't see the difference on the product pages.

Which one you recommend dear dvxuser?

thanks

I second the A-Lite. It's the size of a few credit cards stacked together, so you can use a bit of Velcro and stick it to the backside of your EVF.

This A-Lite looks very nice but is pricey! The Aputure AL-M9 is cheap ($45) and has exceptionally good color but it's daylight only. aputure-amaran-al-m9-d12.jpg

I use this one:

At $419 it isn't cheap, but still far less than the Litepanel "brick" on camera led lights that were the first and at one time the industry standard. Adorama has a pre-owned example of the above unit for $219. A P-tap power cable is a must. You don't want the internal batteries going dead in the middle of an interview. The unit is bi-color and has decent output but isn't powerful enough for some situations such as needing to compete with stadium lights or fill the face of a subject under direct overhead sunlight. Consider this light should you have a bigger budget in the future.

If it were me.. with Vlock on my camera and a few spare Dtaps Id be looking for 12v.. any options

Recharging that aladin or having a new battery infastructure seems a pain.

No you can't because the USB port on the FS7 shuts off power when it can't sense the right device. I have an emergency battery pack with 5V USB port in my camera bag at all times but so far I haven't depleted my A-lite during a shoot.

Nice. I use Switronix XPL-90S V mounts that have a USB port next to the D Tap port, nifty batteries. Power wireless video or this light, etc etc.

I see that Zylight is the exclusive US retailer, but don't see an option to buy on www.zylight.com - any US people who've bought this A-lite? Seems that having 2 or three could be a super portable way to travel with some little pops of light.

I'm currently using the smaller Aladdin bi-colour light velcroed to the viewfinder. It's great because I don't have to take it off the camera, it's always there if I need it.

While it doesn't have the kick of the larger version, it still serves well as an eye-light or to bring up the exposure for vox-pops in poor light.

Is it true that a smart American patented LED light as 'medium for film and video' and thus can ask money from all LED light manufacturers who wants to sell their lights in the US?
