I've been shooting the FS7 today in high speed mode recording 240fps onto the Odyssey 7Q+ in overcast to full sun. My subjects are wearing all black so to avoid noise in the darks I'm exposing to the right keeping the dark skin and black uniforms at around 30 IRE. As the day progressed (got warmer and brighter) I started to get HUGE chromatic blocking in the footage. It seems to be worse in shots where there are a lot of whites, hot or blown out sky against severe darks. The blocks appear in high contrast shots mostly but in low contrast shots you can still catch some blocking especially inside punchy colors (but much smaller). The chromatic blocks can be blue, green and red (or non color) and only appear every other frame. So they flicker on and off and stay in the general area of the subject the camera is panning with.
Prior to this shoot I did a couple days test shooting windsurfing with the same settings. I did not have any chromatic blocking shooting windsurfing. There was no hot/blown out sky in the windsurfing shots but the breaking white water was hitting a pretty high IRE but not clipping.
Odyssey Firmware: 2016.06.1431
FS7 Firmware: V4.00
Ext Unit Firmware: V2.00
FS7 settings:
-Ext RAW Output For 2048 24P
-CineEl/slog3.cine
-240FPS
-23.98
-Metabones Speedbooster
-Scan Mode: 2K Full
Convergent 7Q+ Settings
2K RAW HS->HD PRORESd
Project Rate: 23.98
Video Cadence: Progressive/PSF
Any ideas?
