FS5: FS5 Weird Blue Fringing in HD SLOG 3

I just got my camera yesterday and been playing around with it at home. I'm getting a weird blue fringing along edges that separate light and dark areas. At first I thought it was peaking but it wasn't turned on in the camera. This blue fringing is recorded in the footage and it's pretty nasty.

Seems to happen only when shooting in HD (I'm currently set at XAVC HD 1080 25p 50mbps). I haven't had time to do a proper test yet to see where and when exactly this happens but going through the picture profiles it seems to happen mostly in SLOG 3. It's there but less obvious in SLOG 2 and doesn't appear in normal Cine Gammas. It also doesn't appear very obviously in UHD in any picture profile setting (but it's there just slightly when using focus mag)

I've attached screenshots in the link below. One is HD and one UHD. You'll be able to tell which by the blue fringing. Compare the clothes rack in the middle of the room and the window frame. Anyone come across this on their cameras?

In the FS7, there have been reports of this in HD in custom mode, slog3. But its more pinkish. There was a long thread about it previously.

This looks like ye olde fs100/700 style aliasing to me.

If you have any sharpening on try turning it off and see if that helps.

I see it too. It's not there in 4K. But I've seen a small amount of it in HD cinegamma as well.

I have encountered this problem often. Only in 1080p but across all picture profiles and gammas in the FS5. It doesn't appear when shooting in UHD.
But when shooting 1080p you will see this problem on internal recording as well as external recording to, say, a Shogun.

I encountered this problem back in January and when posting my findings, I was accused by another on this forum of sloppy test methods and thereby damaging the livelihood of all FS5 owners. Specifically, I was accused of using the Sony 18-105 kit lens on the tests I performed, and this person's hypothesis was that the lens was the culprit. My subsequent tests showed it was not. The problem will show up no matter which lens is used.
In the 4 months since then, many others have encountered the highlight fringing problem so I feel somewhat vindicated. If the RAW upgrade turns out to be a good thing, it should eliminate the problem when recording externally.
Here is my original test from January:

Was that slow motion? I get some weird stuff in 120fps and up slow-motion but nothing even remotely close to that in regular HD

No that was at 30p. I did tests at 24p also and got the same thing. To be fair, in the months since, I have not experienced anything as bad as this with any of my footage. Something about this particular setup with the statuette seems to be the magnet for the problem. However, I can tell you it does this on slow-motion a lot.

I also work with an FS700 and that camera exhibits the same issue. Doing some internet research yesterday, I discovered the FS7 can exhibit this problem when set a certain way. Owners of the big brother F5 have also experienced this issue.

An interesting speculation from someone on the F5 forum was that it only happened when using wide color gamuts. That using a REC709 gamut would eliminate the problem. I could do a test to confirm this hypothesis. However, for users of S-LOG2 and S-LOG3, that is not a viable option, as using a non-S-Gamut setting with those makes colors wonky.

I remember I got some blocking line thing going on once in while before the FW update but luckily nothing since... I do get purple blinking blocks in the slow-motion around specular highlights, always 100% get them around specular highlights in slow motion and sometimes even with shots with just a hard edge between high contrast areas. Had to pick up a used FS700 because I shoot motorsports (contrast and specular highlights on everything)
