FS5: FS5 Picture Profile Thread

Thank you very much for being such a great customer! I honestly haven't decided if I will do an FS5 field guide or not. Too many things to do, and not enough time.

Im finding any + to Detail not too flattering to peoples skin in Cine Gammas. And positive values looks way too video to me.

Ive now lowered mine to -4

Anyone else noticed this?

Ye its all quite subjective the whole video/filmic look. But doing test shots when i used detail + it really enhanced any of my girlfriends skin blemishes etc. When i lowered it made her much more flattering. She won't let me upload it but now i'll be lowering Detail for shooting people.

Yup, gotta choose whatever looks best to you and not worry too much about what other people like.

I can't always choose what i like, i need to offload footage that has room to move. And what i like is most definitely mostly not what most people like :)

Yr PP is awesome btw. But in low light i feel the blacks are too crushed (just my personal feedback). I won't post your settings but going half with yr settings in low light helps with offloading clips that don't require much correction to clients in these low light scenarios.

Re my last post re: Skin tone: Slog just seems to kick ass and make people look wonderful. Problem is the post production workflow is 2 x.

I've got to chime in here and give props to Doug Jensen for both his awesome FS5 training course, and the picture profile he shares as part of it. I've shot with a slight variation on it now for three client shoots, and it's really, really nice, especially for 4K shooting. The colors are well-balanced, and it looks great straight from the camera. If you're debating spending the money for Doug's course, don't. It'll be some of the best money you've ever spent.
