FS5: Fs5 or ursa mini 4.6k

I make corporate videos and short films. I also plan to shoot a feature film next summer. I have around a $6k to buy a camera. I already own canon lenses, lights and other camera gear. So this budget would be for camera only.

So in short I'm looking to buy the fs5 or the ursa mini 4.6k. I know they're two different cameras but that's what I'm looking at.

I really like the features the fs5 has to offer and the image I see online looks pretty good. The super high frame rate and variable ND filter is also a plus.

The ursa mini 4.6k images really impress me but the lack of internal ND filters, the size of the camera and the expensive media is what's leaning me towards the FS5. However, the ursa 4.6k has internal raw and prores already built into to it and the camera is cheaper even with the accessories you need to make it work. There are also alternatives to using cfast cards.

So what does the Sony forum say to convince me to move to the fs5?

Depends on what you need really, both offer the option of shooting 12-bit 4k raw (the FS5 to external recorders). So you've got high-quality recording options with both.

The Ursa Mini is small, the FS5 is tiny. Menus and operation is vastly simpler and more intuitive with the Ursa in my brief experience with both cameras.

Both make pretty pictures, so I'd ask yourself what's more important - a more conventional cinema camera setup that a crew can work with (with the Ursa)? Or a faster, more run and gun, single-shooter setup (with the Sony)?

makes sense. It's becoming more clear that the fs5 would be a better investment. Thanks for your advice Grug!

I never would entrust a paid production to a BMD camera unless I have one camera on spare on the set.
Why not wait until the announcement of the FS7 V2 and consider a used FS7 as soon it's available?

intersting. Do you think a v2 of the fs7 is really coming? I've heard the rumors but it's hard to believe. Sonys FS7 is a hot camera still. Even though it's been 2 years it's still selling like hot cakes. I wonder, if this rumor is true, why would they need to realease a mark II?
