FS7: FS5 Handgrip on FS7 Compatibility

Hey fellas. Have any of you successfully tried putting a FS5 handgrip on a FS7? Is it 100% compatible to where all buttons work and can be assignable, just like on the FS7's handgrip? I've looked up old threads where people thought they were interchangeable, but I found nothing recent.

My FS7 handgrip is having issues and rather than purchase another one, I'm interested in purchasing a FS5 handgrip instead. It appears to be smaller in size and can easily be changed to a rosette for $25 with SmallRig's rosette adapter. I like that with it's smaller size and with its ability to be rosette mounted easily, it would be a better companion on my 15mm rosette mounts alongside a left side wooden handgrip. I really like the thought of this.

If someone could confirm its compatibility and even confirm that it is indeed smaller, then this is likely the route I'm going to take. Thanks!

i did a quick test and put the FS5 Handgrip to the FS7. It worked. I did not check all prgrammable possibilities.
I used FS5 Handgrip (on FS7) how it was programmed on FS5. Major functions worked: Start Stop, Record review, Image magnification, Iris on Handgripp wheel (not of coures var.ND becouse FS7 I does not have this funktion), joystick, zoom-rocker

If my FS7 handgripp would be damaged, i would clearly replae it with FS5 Handgrip. Vocas had a adapter to change FS5 Handgrip to a standard arri rosette, so you can mount it on FS7. Feel free to ask.

Thanks for the response! That's exactly what I was looking for. Can you tell me, is the FS5 grip smaller length wise than the FS7 grip? I know it's not as wide as you can clearly see that in the pictures, but I was wondering if it was also smaller height wise. Thanks for your help!

I would say fs5 grip is overall a bit smaller, especially in lenght. Fs5 has the advantage that it is easier to reach all knobs with yr Fingers.
The belt mounted on fs5 grip is perfect and helps a lot for stability wheras fs7 grip is f.....
My Cents clearly for fs5 grip, throw fs7 grip in a jaws mouth. Crearse

I make a rosette adaptor for the FS5. it is full sized (32mm) all stainless steel with a central M6 threaded socket. It's $72

I also make an FS5 Sony "Crony" that places a ratcheting male grip onto the FS5 grip. I have not had time to make products shots but here are photos of one shipped out last week. there are about 35 of these working in the filed w/o issues for over a year.

Can anybody confirm that this is indeed the FS5 handgrip? I've called Sony twice now as the first part number they gave me appeared to be the FS7 handgrip. I want to make sure I don't order the wrong part. It says G BLOCK ASSY, so I'm not 100% sure that means the whole grip, or perhaps that's just what they call it. Here's what the second guy sent me:

PXWFS5:
Ref. No.: 310
Part Number: A-2081-877-A
Part Description: G BLOCK ASSY

That's Sony specific. It should not be so hard to get reliable communication after the sale.
I've worked with them directly on a development level and they are really good and responsive. But whenever Ive had to just call an consumewr number it's sobering how bad it usually gets. Just flat bad info. Maybe a Sony rep monitoring can help?
