FS5: FS5 hand grip locking failure

Hi all,

The other day, for no apparent reason, the hand grip on my FS5 stopped locking in place - as in, it rotates freely. The lock release latch is stuck in place, and does nothing when pushed.

Basically I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue, and if so, is there a quick fix? I'd prefer not to buy a new grip if I can avoid it - they are ridiculously expensive!

I have started pulling the grip apart but there doesn't seem to be easy access to the locking mechanism. And there's no Sony repair agents in my country that I can find, so repair isn't an easy option either.

I had a similar issue and took the hand grip apart and was able to get it back working again. The mechanism is pretty flimsy; I found that the metal plate on the backside of the hand grip can easily get bent so that the pin gets out of alignment and won't shoot through the hole to lock the unit. Took about five minutes to fix it.
