FS5: FS5 - Center scan 2k/HD RAW to 7Q+?

I have the 7Q+ and am considering the purchase of a Sony FS5 with RAW option and the C-D RAW bundle.

I have some Super16 primes that I am interested in using on the FS5 with the Center Scan mode to shoot 2k/HD 12bit RAW @ 24fps.

Here is my question:

A) Can the Sony FS5 / Odyssey combination record 2k/HD 12bit RAW in Centre Scan mode @ 24fps?

B) If this is possible is the Center Scan 2k/HD RAW 10bit or 12 bit? It seems like it drops down to 10bit in high speed mode, but what about 24fps?

I've done some research into this, but can't find a definitive answer.

Thanks

Thanks for the offer SamEd.

I spoke to the people over at Texas Media Systems and they contacted C-D. At the moment it is not possible to shoot 2k / HD 12bit RAW in the center scan mode. Maybe this is something that SONY can add in a future firmware update.

Researching this - I find that we record 12 bit in RAW only, we must have a RAW video signal from the FS5 to have 12 bit Cinema DNG files recorded.

To enable the "Center Scan" - The Rec/Out set has to be set to XAVC HD or AVCHD only - If one tries to select the RAW + either of those, the center scan menu is then greyed out. Thus The FS5 will only be sending out an HD signal for the Center scan to be enabled, and we will record this only as Prores files, not Cinema RAW .DNG files.

So end result is Center Scan & RAW video output are mutually exclusive, they do not work together.

This makes a lot of sense as RAW is the raw sensor data. No reason Sony can't do this, but they'd have to want to. Good luck!

I suppose you could shoot 4k and crop in post. For composing you could set some guides on the odyssey. There are obvious data management penalties to this. But it's maybe a reasonable workaround.
