Hello everyone, winter is here so I risked my body to get some more practice with the FS100. Every time I shoot with this camera, I feel like I'm getting crap. And every time I watch the footage, I don't fell like I just shot crap. I sure do enjoy the results I got on this one, just did not enjoy standing outside in 15 degree weather.
Some things I continue to see while shooting. The LCD monitor gives horrible feedback of the image's low-range. Before, I was always overexposing because I felt I was crushing my blacks. And when I come back to view the footage expecting detail lost in the blacks, I discover that was not the case. I figure the best is expose for the highlights. Protect them as much as possible, and let the camera do its magic in the low end. For PP on this one, I just used a simple Cinematone1 profile with some of AbelCine's knee and color depth settings. I haven't yet had the time to try out some of the G-log settings I've been reading about. Which sounds interesting.
Thanks! Damon
