I was shooting doco on film untill '94, that was my last show on 16mm, then the folks i was working with switched to BetaCam, i did one show with it, and decided to shift gears to post.. the camera's images were not to my taste, i did not feel good about what it looked like... most of my gigs were oversea's, most of my gig's were in places hard to get communications established, i was gone for months at a time, and my daughter wanted me to stay at home.. add the arrival of the BetaCam + the exit of film, and it was an easy decision to enter post full time.

fast forward to today.. the FS is the first camera that has me really interested since the end of 16mm for doco.. i have been shooting a bit every year, operating Bcam on films or shooting second unit.. but now i'm kinda back - shooting something for real.. I blame the FS really...

Caleb & Carlos are also forceing this camera into becoming a real working tool.. i'm very glad to see Sony listen... i'm betting they have been monitoring this forum

I guess the 4X 8X dont feed out to external monitor?

Personally I would like to see a measure for colours too like an RGB histo - that would be wonderful

All excellent additions, especially the 4x 8x.

Any word on bug fixes? Specifically I have 2 issues which drive me crazy

1) When the built in display is off, the histogram stops updating on external monitor.

2) Over time, the monitored audio/video out of HDMI lags pretty far behind what the camera is seeing. The longer the camera is on, the worse it gets.

Now I might have to switch to alpha lenses.... with AF/auto support of them through LA-E2....

Perhaps it's time to ditch my nikons

This was one of the reasons that I, as a previously 'uninvested' person (never did the DSLR thing
so have no still lens investment) was waiting to figure out which way to go, as far as lenses.
I was wondering, if the new Sony adapter, and new firmware would be the way to go. Now I just need
someone to be a beta tester and buy the new LA-E2 adapter, alpha lens, and then when the new firmware
comes out, they can tell me how it works,.....then MAYBE I can finally decide.

"Selectable ISO or GAIN sensitivity display."

LiamR, I don't understand exactly what that implies. To me it just says you have a choice of displaying an ISO number instead of a Gain setting????????. It doesn't necessarily imply you have any more control or ease of use compared to the current situation. I want to be able to pull up any gain setting while shooting, not just 3 choices that have to be altered by going back into the menu.

This is just matching what the AF100 does, you can display in either units.

I've come completely from ISO so it makes it 10x easier for me to understand... and yeah what you've listed would be amazing to have.

In fact you can have 4 quick gain settings if you use the auto gain button. In the menus you can set auto gain to max 0db and then the L/M/H switch to 3 different gain settings. So that way you have for instance 0db, 6db, 12db and 18db at you disposal and easily accessible on the camera body.

4. Selectable ISO or GAIN sensitivity display.
Very excited to hear about this! Having ISO display instead of gain is very nice...would be much nicer if you could dial this in instead of using the 3 point switch. Maybe they'll add that capability? But either way, these are great improvements.

Thanks frankkinen. I love that one. Love it, love it, love it. I just got a 4th position on my gain switch.

Love it
