FS100 & The Zacuto shootout Part#3

The Alexa is insane! i liked it way more than the F65, looks more natural in my opinion... i see that there is a huge step between the fs100 and the 7D in terms od DR.. didn't expect that. Anybody knows what picture style has been used for the 7D?

What me impressed most was that all of them have such a emotional connection to their work, they speak right out of my heart...

Watched 3rd part again - I'm really impressed with FS100. The difference between GH2/7D and FS100 is huge! I'm talking about empirical shots, because creative one looked worse that empirical...Of course there's a difference in detail handling between FS100 and C300 which comes next, but man, FS100 is like 1/3 of C300! Man, this camera has a huge potential!

Well I actually thought all of them (even the iPhone 4s to my surprise) looked pretty good, of course that was due to the skill
of the crew involved. I'd like to say thanks to Zacuto for the test, it looked like a lot of work. BUT......I have to say, it
seemed a bit....off to me. I mean there was so much 'It's not the wrench, it's the plumber' that it got a little old after awhile.
I mean ok, once or twice, or even three times, but it kept going back to it. I get it, they are trying to hit a point here, but
I'd like to think we all got it after hearing it a few times. And then some of the documentation is just wrong. I downloaded the
PDF, and am looking right now at the FS-100 data. It says that the FS100 was shot at 23.98FPS with AVCHD 28Mbps compression. Anyone
that owns the FS100 will know that this is NOT POSSIBLE!!! The 28Mbps mode is ONLY for the 1080 60P setting, max bitrate for
23.98 FPS is 24Mbps. Seeing a PDF with obvious mistakes in it, does NOT make me confident in their testing methods. Again, not
trying to slam them or be mean as they put a TON of effort into producing something that is FREE and neat to see, but...again
something about it just seems a little off to me.

My three least favorites in the blind test ended up being: iPhone, GH2, and... the Epic. The Alexa was my favorite, followed by the Sony offerings and then the C300 and the 7D.

Ultimately though, the shootout was as much a test of the DPs as it was of the cameras. Take any of the cameras, change the DP, and you would probably get a different result.
