FS100 : Sound settings

I dont think Ive done or thought about sound on my FS100 for a couple of years! (mainly its done pop vids at 60p!). I used it as an ambient recorder the other day. #fail .

Anyway three things.

-My fuzzy brain remembers putting the sound on Dolby for some reason - maybe so the sound could be handled by Clipwrap?

-Now the sound in not playing in Resolve or QT7 but does play in QT10

-Something I have always suspected - the sound seems to clip at -10 or -20db - Ie you can record sound well below 'the red' and still there is clipping.

Something says this is all tied together.

Is anyone up to date with their FS100 and the best settings for sound!

TIA,

S

Sam,
I had to check, because sound is one of the few things I haven't set in a while - the sound is set to Dolby because certain NLEs couldn't read Linear PCM at the time (I have not checked to see if they do now) - I have had no clipping issues, using a variety of inputs (Sony, Rode, Sennheiser radio). Either on manual volume or using the auto setting for sync sound.
One thing to check might be the XLR trim settings - mine are set to 0dB and wind limiter on.

Now you've mentioned it, Ill try a few more settings and experiment, as I have a similar sound ¨mind blank¨ - seems set and forget works for me!

Thanks for the input.

Yep I 'set and forget' what three years ago.

Tested it yesterday with XLR mic and clipping happened when I expected it to.

Was taking a line feed from a mixing desk and clipping was horrid, but the meters were not clipping at the time.
