FS100 price drop on the horizon?

I know Sony are pleased with the camera, but aren't happy about the volume of units being sold.

Heard some rumblings about a lot of units moving through Asia recently as well, all here say at this point but just wondering if any else thinks a price drop might be around the corner.

I'm ready to get one, but not in a rush if they're planning to knock some dollars off the price tag soon-ish.

I don't see the Canon C300's recent release as threat (maybe to the F3) and any new DSLR probably isn't either. So I don't think that would be enough to sway Sony, but slow sales might.

Thoughts?

You KNOW this?

Sony are bastards...one of the worst...I highly doubt they will drop the price of anything any time soon; especially not the FS100 since it was released relatively recently.

Do you know that theres a Sony $300 rebate going on right now? If you don't, then how do know so much about the sales of the camera?

Sony are Bastards? They make a great camera at a decent price and offer a rebate. Man, I gotta take some time away from here.

I knew about the rebate, $300 on the body and $200 on the body and lens combo.
Wasn't aware they were bastards though....

Who knows if the sony fs100 will have its priced kocked down... I know 4 years ago when I purchased a Sony z7u, it went down in price for like a couple months, then rocketed right back up to its original price and is still relatively at the same price..... and that camera rocked!

I am on the boat of the fs100, wait for the Canon slr camera that shoots 4k.... or just make the plunge and get a c300... Which I believe would be great for 4 years atleast.

It will be great for that long, but the current version won't last that long. With as much fanfare as Canon made about the C300, they won't hesitate in making upgrades to make their customer base happier.

Don't hold your breath for a price drop... Yen is very high and going higher (or rather, US dollar going lower). Have you seen how a lot of prices on cameras have been going up lately?

C300 is a high bit sensor rushed to market and mashed into an 8 bit X305 internal plumbing. The initial processing is so clean it makes nice pics even at 8bit. the true C300 is coming and I'm waiting.

i can appreciate why you are asking.

who wouldn't want to save a few dollars/euros.

then again, basic economic rules always apply:

"the price will eventually go down."

"and it will go lower, faster right after you finalize your purchase!"

your move.

be well
