FS100 owners - are you going to switch to the FS700?

Thank you! That's exactly what I'm looking for. Funny, I was going to PM you because I have seen you talking about camera support in recent posts.

I hope I didn't make anyone feel bad about their purchase, that wasn't the intent at all.

Speaking for myself, not at all. I love the FS100. (It's just those ND filters. Those damn, damn ND filters that I wish our camera had!)

I will definitly get it. As soon as pre orders are available in Canada, count me in. I got one of the first FS100 in Canada, in june 2011. I'm used to upgrade my cameras every 2 to 3 years... so it's a bit early, but ND filters and SDI out and slow motion worth the upgrade. the FS100 paid for itself rather quickly so I will definitly get the bigger brother.

Yes, I will switch to a camera that I haven't seen footage from, or really know a whole lot about yet. Because it's new, that's good enough.

;)

Of course, I use the FS100 for close to a year and know the image caracteristics very well. I think it is safe to assume the FS700 will be similar, mostly better in some ways (we can expect higher res, better highlight handling, better DR) perhaps a bit worse in some (low light) but overall it should be close. So yes, I will trust the early review and buy one of the first unit. And by june, there should be tons of footage online to analyse.

Still too early to tell for me. The 4k 12bit RAW option coming makes it a totally different league of a camera. I'm wondering if the 4k RAW recorder coming can be used with an F3, which I also own. I'm thinking (hoping) that a f3 firmware upgrade will allow for that. I would think a recorder like that would be made to be compatible to their other cameras too? So too soon to tell.

I love my fs100 and I'm interested in the fs700, but the quality of the fs100 will be plenty enough for me to last for the next 4 to 5 years. I'm willing to wait for technology to get better. Every year the transister gets smaller and smaller and they just released 28 nanometer size chips. I'm gonna stick it out and wait for something crazy to come out. Before you know it the fs1000 will be out and everyone is gonna think about ditching the fs700.

I am absolutely switching when it comes out. I am currently shooting a feature film on the Fs100 and I am seriously loving this camera... especially the low light capability.

Yeah.. but what I'm thinking about is BACK-UP ! ... When I shoot for my clients I feel uncomfortable if I don't have second camera.. last time I shoot with my Kessler Crane my HDMI cable was brocken at the begining.. and we run to the store to get a new one... Hard to imagine what I can do if the store already close.. brr.. horrible..
My Canon 5D is not really good back-up camera even for FS-100.. and for FS-700 will be even worse.. so.. I'm not sure..but seems will be better to keep FS-100... a specially if in Firmware update we will get some options close to FS-700... ( autofocus improvement and new Picture Profiles )
